Prox chat has no distance drop off or direction, probably to prevent it being too powerful for locating enemies. If it had those I bet everyone clowning on the generic prox chat would immediately disable prox chat since it reveals position.

It is pretty buggy unless it's intended to be this way. When you step near them you hear their mic like you're in a vc call with them rather than the sound emitting from the player. It can get really loud and you'll probably lose their footsteps. Funny though if you're there for a good time.
