You can already have that discussion tho... Plain and simple, sentience is sentience, whether mab made you or not. If a robot was capable of feelings, had freedom of thought, we expressed desire, and functioned beyond programming, I would call it living.

this is the first robot that doesnt give me the uncanny feeling! except when it smiled at the end, that still needs some work lmao
@flameshoter62 жыл бұрын
I think it is uncanny. The way it can move so effortlessly, like it was born yesterday and hasn't lived for 20 years. With almost no sound unless it has to make a sudden, quick movement or from the cooling fans working. Plus the ultra white and greyish colors don't help. If the robot had more human like pigments, it would probably seem more inviting to people. Just like how they added a blinking feature for the robot. It would be more weird if it didn't blink. If you met the robot in real life, I'm sure the experience/feelings would be very different. Especially if it could walk around the facility. Its seems so fake seeing a tall cleaning bot in this one local supermarket near me. It is the only store that has a bot. I haven't seen the food delivery carts like they have in some cities. To think that some day in my older years, I might be seeing walking robots all over the place. And it would be weird because it would feel like another person walking next to me or may block my path and we both do a little shuffle in opposite directions with it replying saying "sorry" "excuse me." WATCH THE TRAM CAR PLEASE!
@Immortal_BP2 жыл бұрын
@@flameshoter6 i think the grey skin actually makes it less uncanny because it signifies that it's a robot and any incorrect movements/details in the face will not be noticed by us thus helping to remove that uncanny feeling. the way you are describing it makes it seem like you are just scared of the idea of the robots and not really getting the "uncanny" feeling. typically the feeling of uncanny or "uncanny valley" when relating to robots is a very sensitive balance, theres actually a theory on it and is very interesting.
@flameshoter62 жыл бұрын
@SharkTank Why do people hate everything for a long time? Because they don't take the time to listen and understand or trust. Its easier to jump to conclusions like Carl Sagan assuming i'm scared of robots. But there is a big difference from being gay and not being alive in relative words. Humans #1 enemy right now are humans. And with the way robotics are, no one knows what the evolution will be. But at some point, it may be able to reach the level of hurting humans just for the sake of it. They will be faster, they will be stronger, and they will be smarter. They already are all three of those things. But the difference is if they can use those traits together in a functioning body. But they could also become the next most caring thing in the world too. But the biggest question is, if a virus occurs, it could cause the whole robotic network to turn against humans. Or maybe the robots would try to remove humans for the sake of saving the planet rather than trying to co-exist. But when it comes to working, they will replace humans eventually. Therefore, no human except for the richest and most useful ones will live. Most people would have passed away from starvation or whatever else because there wouldn't be a need. People would have no purpose. Even if you give humans a weekly paycheck, what would they spend it on? Watching the same movie 3 times this week? Or is it just enough to buy food? Is it enough to pay utilities? Volunteer work wouldn't exist because robots would fix the issue. Its the unknown. And will society even last longer enough to advance robotics to that point? Society is expected to collapse by 2040. Just because a lot of major resources will dry up at that point.

The military will most likely use machines as disposable weapons. It isn't like the 80s where this stuff was just seen as crazy science fiction nonsense. If man can make a bomb that is capable of wiping out an entire country, they can make robots capable of being footsoldiers in a war. It'll be expensive to throw complex machines into a war zone as they can get destroyed, but they don't feel pain or fear. They'll only cease their task when damaged enough and chances are machines would be detonated upon being severely damaged, making them ideal for close quarters. Scary thought, but I don't think we're at that point just yet. Give it a few more decades though and it'll be more than believable. It's not like our glorious countries mind putting all their money into some military budget. It's all about who had the biggest dick and its been that way since Japan got 2 nukes dropped on them.

@alemooche51592 жыл бұрын
@@fargoth391 no I I dought nothing like that will ever happen because we would have precautions set up like a kill switch or something but like i said there are consequences for machines doing human work like people could lose they're jobs in the future (mostly labour jobs) I do think there will be a ton of pros from this but there will be a considerable amount of cons aswell, basically we don't want to rely on robots for everything in the future and it looks like we will

It’d be a good idea to make robots that can perform surgeries. Removes margins of error. They can work faster, and more efficiently. The only problems are that they can malfunction and get hacked. Though, they’re very slim chances.
