The coils need to made from copper, can't use aluminum because it will heat a lot, hence way lower efficiency. You need overlapping copper coils all over the front side of the coat, that's at least a kilo of copper. The tricky part is how many devices you want to charge at the same time, the wiring and circuit board will be significantly more complex, and you won't be able to put mutiple devices near each other. You will probably have to put magnets or electromagnets all over the front with sockets because some devices need perfect alignment for the charging handshake to start.

Could be useful if they leaned more into the IoT device part. For example, being able to give an instruction like "watch this clock until it reaches X time, then notify my phone". That would actually be genuinely useful in some scenarios. For example, you could just throw it next to your washing machine and have it notify you when its over. Of course this would require them to be more than a glorified open ai API caller and actually develop some novel functionalities. I think they are just making it to be a gimmicky product though, so they probably wont invest that much into R&D. But as it stands there is very little value proposition in this as you could just develop a smart phone app to do this anyways.
