Isn't that the point. John Wick's revenge story creates a trilogy of death and suffering caused by the first movie. Considering that this is the second revenge arc in this game alone, Ellie realized that killing Abby would only lead to more violence (and revenge arcs). The game looks good visually. Killing Joel could have been a really good plot. But the writers did it for the wrong reasons. And getting to play Abby at the start before knowing her story was a bad choice. Keep the bad guys in the cinematics only! Unless we get to play as Abby loosing. That might be fun

The way devs executed Joel's death was meh, but it wasn't bad either, people just love to mald and call the game bad because of their favorite character dying. I didn't even see the spoilers that leaked months before release, and I kind of already knew that Abby had a grudge against Joel, her talking about finding "him" it wasn't that hard to understand who she's talking about since there's only 2 MC and only 1 is a man. I agree with last part - "Unless we get to play as Abby loosing" - this would've felt so much more awesome if I could've played through the "sad" story of Abby and still have the choice to stab and drown her, forcing a narrative that many people will not enjoy is just bad writing, especially in a interactive story game..
