A live XRTV #alonetogether interview with Chris Hedges, American journalist and author. Chris won the Pulitzer Prize while at the New York Times and has written a number of groundbreaking books on the crises we face. He will talk about the massive changes which are now upon us - why this has been coming for a long time and how it relates to the climate crisis. He will speak on what the future will look like and our responsibility to shape it into a humane outcome rather than the default of fascism which we are heading towards at the moment. As a black man, I was most impressed with one of the first lectures which was delivered by Chris Hedges - here on "youtube", several years back. His perspective of the Racism in America was awe inspiring. To hear a "White American" speak "Truth" which many are blinded towards is extremely rare indeed. His insight is unbiased, unprejudiced, well informed and very well balanced in the observation of human behaviour. As he mentioned in the Intro' - Dr. Martin Luther King (A man of Love) was one of the most hated men in America. This was and is the case today for many, who have "failed to walk in another groups shoes" (allegory) to determine the Psychological imbalance of this heinous, inhumane mentality !!!

@Howie B The recent criticisms I've seen of Bernie (Chris here and Dylan Rattigan on Jimmy Dore's show) has been somewhat of a wakeup call for me. I donated a little to Bernie in the 2016 campaign and did so a month or two ago again... only to watch him fold to Joe Biden of all people. It's crushing to me. Think about the off the cuff remark and the hubris behind claiming someone is a national object really stinks, why? The notion that someone is more valuable than another, the idea of a pedestal, is us and them,. You lack class analysis. What is American? Mexico and Canada are North Americans and so are most of you, the USA is in the middle. It strikes me as ridiculous most of the good folks in the United States have the blinders on and can not see past themselves. People have short memories. It felt oh so good when we had jobs, mortgages and big cars. Paying full attention to our cousin, sister, brother, neighbors possessions and doing them "one better" no matter how difficult it might be. Allowing consumerism to be our God. We aspired to have the most and best of everything the world had to offer, not caring about the expense it had to other humans, or the World itself. We have allowed the government to take away our jobs so, that we don't even manufacturer the very items that we need to survive the bio warfare that we all allowed our government to create. We make NOTHING here anymore. We have become consumers that are only waiting for things to return back to NORMAL so that we can turn back into lemmings. Sheep. Sheep being led off of a cliff. It began with our parents during the 60's and 70's. I am 54 so I can surely remember how my parents never had time to see what was happening. They were working. That was part of the plot. Then, they sent all opportunities that we would have had (the children), elsewhere. They believed in the foundations and institutions of society that they felt were keeping our world free of all this chaos we see finally unfolding. They were blinded by Capitalism and consumerism and all that is associated with that sickness. So sad America. You should truly be ashamed of yourself. Wake up people of the US. This is bigger than you. We are all disposable in this drama you see before your eyes. We, as always will be the ones to suffer. Stand up NOW! The whole concept of people only having a worth or reason for living as one of work & accumulation of goods is inane. How we got there is a direct result of TV & marketing. Now we have "wealth porn" , were we live vicariously via watching people with NO skills or contribution to the greater good, get accolades & even MORE money from their brainwashed & poor followers. Conspicuous consumption is how we got here, we should NOT be celebrating it!

Why are electronic voting machines used? Why did a retired CIA officer recently say that the agency's activities included the manipulation of election results (as well as the infiltration and sabotage of radical or socialist leaning organizations)? Why do some people claim that CIA trained personnel work in all major public media outlets? Could it be true? What would be the point? What is "creating a narative"? Did Pompeo actually say recently that the United States would not let a Socialist (that would be Corbyn) be elected into government in Great Britain? (And if so, what could he possibly have meant by this seemingly absurd statement?) Do exit polls in the Democratic Party's presidential nomination campaign indicate fraud? If so what would that mean? Could it be that the privileges of the most privileged must be protected in order to be maintained? I imagine that the answer is yes.

G'day from Melbourne Australia. Great to listen to a learned person for a change . In the early 1940s in Australia there came about an organization of intellectual writers and artists, they were dispirited with the perceived national lack of cultural appreciation for the arts at that time . This group of thinkers were called the Angry Penguins. To paraphrase someone "Howcan I sore like an eagle when I'm surrounded by crows" Such a group of intelligent individuals is sorely needed today, populas leaders with both eyes on a 3 year election cycle will not deliver Australia nor any other country from the 4 horsemen that have saddled their mounts and are heading our way. Thank you Chris for you courage, if we had 299 more like you we just might keep this sinking ship afloat. Keep the faith.

Heh. That's one thing I kind of treasure about Chris Hedges: he's obviously channeling his father in his commentary, as it is always focussed on MORAL arguments, with a definite scent of rhetorical fire and brimstone about it. So much left-wing commentary today seems to want to avoid this kind of stylistic orientation, possibly out of a misguided embarrassment over its religious overtones, but I think it's very refreshing, and at times, clarifying.

Having served nearly fifteen years as a business representative for a major international trade union, I witnessed first hand the demise of the Middle Class. I do not know if the younger today have the understanding that we had in the 1960's, nor the want to get involved as my generation, but it may be closer by the events of today.

When the rich believe that they deserve to be rich and that the poor deserve to be poor, then they can justify anything for the sake of profit, as long as the hard times and austerity never touches them. When you are so wealthy that you can afford to construct your own little world in which you can dwell and never have to look at the multitudes suffering and dying because of your greed, it becomes quite easy to just keep the charade going and participate in business as usual. But then within the uber wealthy there are some who are such sociopaths that they can look at the suffering and dying and not be at all disturbed by it.They rationalize it all as collateral damage.
