Fuck yes, love Shattered Memories, this was the game that got me into the series. While it does suck that there's no combat so no bosses either, literally everything else about the game is fucking amazing, it's hard to believe the same people who made Silent Hill Origins. Maybe it was an apology for that game's excess of combat and that combat being un-fun lol

Seriously wish this game got more credit. Nowadays most SH fans seem to go to bat for Downpour, and while I do like Downpour, I think Shattered Memories deserves a lot of credit, both for the different approach it takes to Silent Hill and also just how raw a lot of it feels when you know what's really going on. Just a really effective take on grief and how you perceive the people close to you.

That definitely is true. Though you gotta admit, for a die hard SH fan, learning the meanings behind those monsters was great fun. :P All of them, really. The fact they have meanings deeper than what you see... it gives me shivers in a good way. The creatures you fight in other games usually are just there as adventure or horror fodder.

I had never known about the PS2 version until recently, mostly due to the Wii version getting so much hype over it's interactive quality (and I guess Wii was the 'in' thing at the time...) I can definitely see what you mean concerning the psychology there. The concept of running from what you need to face. But I feel it would have been better, if that was the reason for it, if toward the end, you eventually faced the enemies head on.
