Appreciate your video! Nice to see one not edited up to portray a perfect install. I've been working on bikes for 45 years and theres always a learning curve with jobs I've never done b4. Leaving the pushrod in,prevent debris from entering the motor. I would have revved CS sprocket just to avoid breaking the chain and have extra room. Loved the home made tapered punch sander!

Why are you holding the pushrod in with a finger? is it bad if you pull it out just like that?

Hello, thanks for the great video, but why not remove the push rod while working on the removal and reassembling of the ring? It would make the job mutch easier!

Keeps debris from the filing/deburring out of the inside probably.

Have you opened the clutch side cover? Was the clutch working? If the clutch is stuck together that will happen.

In looking at this video it appears to me that the push rod bushing that lies behind the seal also needs to be replaced. It tends to get egg-shaped as it wears and allows too much side to side movement of the push rod causing premature oil seal failure.

I have a little ball that is in the way and doesn’t allow me to push the clutch rod back into place. What is that ?? Help ??

the ball bearing goes in first then the pushrod the ball acts like a bearing against the clutch. it should push into the opening.

Hello. What was that first tool you used called to remove the seal? I'm guessing I need this seal. I just posted an xs 650 clutch cable removal. I hadn't ever been in there before. I thought maybe it was a self oiling chain, which they may be but your bike is way cleaner in there. My 83 only has 6000 miles on it.I rode in the rain yesterday and saw a line of oil down the waters path after I parked and returned.I guess I don't drive in the rain much. Thanks for posting.

Most of times isn't the seal that wears out, but the rod. And that make the leak.

Considering that you are videoing this procedure for the xs650 owners, It would have been better to have removed the drive sprocket first so that the viewer could see the installation better. Good video otherwise.
