In the chicane you are turning in to hit the apex too soon, hence not having the best exit speed coming out of it. If you stay to the right side of the race track longer and turn into the chicane later you will get more in lign with the apexes and have a better exit speed! I love your videos and I am nothing close to your level, but I think this will help 😂

16:51 If anyone was actually wondering, judging by the mileage on the car at the beginning of the video and the mileage at the end and assuming all of the mileage came exclusively from the time trialing efforts shown, Steve did approx. 93 miles in the car between his first lap and his best lap or 36.6 full lap distances at Road Atlanta. Plenty more than "10", but considering the fact that a fair amount of that mileage came in partial distances leading up to retries, I'd say that's a fairly minimal amount of laps to do to crush a top 250 time in the world, Steve. GG, dude.

Drive the samabus around Australia the AI has no idea what gear to select to power it up the hill 🤣 it's around 30 seconds slower. On France it's around 2-3s slower, at my best I can probably hit a 1:20s on MT using a pad, the wheel guys doing 1:19s, alot of it has to do with the momenteum you carry downhill if you hug the final turn you can do 45+mph & 54mph over the line, downhill the first corner if you slot it right you can carry 60+mph riding the blue/yellow rumble strip you can loose up to 1.5s on the next uphill section if you only carry 58mph.

Friendly observation: the 918 is relatively heavier than it seems and hides its mass with sophisticated mechanical grip. This means that it favors situations where there is less weight transfer and all four tires are equally loaded (such as in low-to-medium-speed turns). For this reason, the moment you slam on the brakes in this car, you are losing all of its mechanical grip as it virtually becomes a two-wheel drive car again and reveals all of its mass. You can't upset the load distribution if you want maximum grip with this car. You're losing a lot of time to the ghost at the beginning of the long straight because the ghost is trail-braking that turn, which the car is able to do because it is operating within its low-speed threshold of mechanical grip. Instead, you are slamming on the brakes and taking all the force off of the rear tires that were engineered to get the car to rotate around the turn. Towards the end of the straight, you are trail-braking instead of focusing on FIRSTLY slowing down and THEN using the throttle to rotate the car around the turn like the ghost does. Further, if you can't adjust the brake bias then try to compression brake by downshifting earlier to help keep the car level so it can use its AWD to rotate. I thoroughly enjoy spectating your races. I think you're a brilliant driver and by no means do I think that I am better. This car seems very unintuitive to drive at a circuit. But I think if you can address this issue of weight distribution, you could shave off at least a tenth.
@Sylveris Жыл бұрын
The grip is still better than the Gr3 Supra with soft tires ! 😂 And I even think the Supra is glitched with those tires ! The best physic for GT7 should be the same as GT Sport, but, - with a 2nd LSD value with 5 points more, so a little bit more slippery than original GT Sport physic - they only should keep the force feedback sensitivity around neutral they added in GT7, compared to GT Sport ! This combo will be perfect !👍🏽
@Razgriz2118 Жыл бұрын
I feel like the Racing Softs are too grippy for the 918 and it should've been Racing Hards at most. The 918 doesn't have the downforce/suspension setup to fully utilize all of the grip, but then because you get a ton of traction out of corners and on initial turn-in, you feel like you have to push much harder than you should be pushing, causing all kinds of understeer moments.
@320iSTWEdition Жыл бұрын
I have the impression you turn in much too soon in that last chicane..... because when you turn in just a few meters later, that's when your run through the chicane is cleaner and faster.... my problem with this car is the power is making me understeer off the track out of corners.....

11:40 Yep, the time trial line is often not exactly the same as the racing line, since the line you do during the race is always a compromise between speed and consistency. So I've been wondering if its actually bad practice to rely on muscle memory for time trials, especially if you have a lot of racing experience, since it would make it more difficult to switch to a new driving style when needed. Is it better to improve your learning process or to focus on the individual challenge? It's like asking if a generalist or specialist is better in the long term.
