People meme NASCAR racing "in circles" but the cars they drive (especially the cars years ago) were not easy to drive on an oval. The back ends were very light and cars made a lot of power. Driving inches from other cars going 200mph and feeling the car oversteer on exit made for great racing....even if it was just "in a circle".

Oval racing is way more complex than it gets credit for. On super speedways it’s more about racing the pack rather than getting a good lap time. On standard ovals there is a very specific type of driving that makes you faster than others. Pretty difficult if you give it a shot.

I will admit that being on the 2.5 mile ovals can be boring. That being said they need to put a 1.5 mile oval like Atlanta or probably Charlotte since it has the infield road course now. When the oval is smaller but you still run the top speeds the racing is so much more of a challenge since you have to let off the throttle for the corners and learn how to set the car into those high speed corners. Having Homestead on Forza is fun in that regard but Charlotte would be so much better with it being a tri oval. Even Texas would be good it has a road course also.
