XT To XMR 24 July 2023

Decided I would convert my Can-Am Outlander XT into an XMR model.
I've always like the looks of the XMR model ATV's, but since I live in a desert with no real deep mud or deep water to play in and didn't figure I needed 30 inch tires. , I never bought one.
However, I had already installed an XMR rear diff & have swapped out the gearbox for a gearbox from a 2020 6X6. So, I have lower transmission as well. And I bought some 30 inch tires a while back. And since I'm not getting any younger, I thought, "Why Not" ... so I moved the radiator from inside the frame to up on top of the hood for that "XMR Look" I like so much.
I waited almost 3 months for all the parts to arrive because so many were on back order. One part has still came in, but I was lucky enough to find it on E-bay, so all is good.

WOW, looks awesome buddy! 7:35 - my buddy Big Dave (TamarackTR/KZbin) put those front racks on his XMR also. He bought 2 black Jerry Cans that have a mounting system & fit on the racks perfectly and they look great!

That's a full-on home-brew Outlander! Nice build, Gunny. I have a firend who ran an XT-P 800 for many thousands of miles with the XMR rad-relocate kit installed and its been very benificial. zero probelms with overheating in summer and a nice glove warmer in the winter time.

Hey Gunny! Just curious...from an XT (800) guy...why did you decide to relocate the rad? I don't see enough benefit vs cost other than being easier to clean the radiator if you're playing in the mud. I couldn't do without my front rack space! (personally I think the XMRs are ugly, too,but that's just me. 😂). Hopefully it comes together and works the way you want it to! It only matters that YOU are happy with it!

Well, like I wrote in the description and mentioned in the video, I've always liked the looks of the XMR & decided, "Why Not" ... it was now or never to have/get one, cause I'm not getting any younger and who knows how many years I have left to be able to ride. (My back is giving me fits again & a 3rd operation is looming in my future). And YUP, so far, I'm pretty dang pleased with the conversion, which was cheaper than buying a new machine & I can always swap it back to an XT if I want. Oh man! Wicked build! Awesome! Looks like a LOT of prep and a lot of fiddle fartin to make stuff fit! ;) Are you going to miss the storage capacity of the front rack instead of the rad relocate?

Why THANK YOU Broknex Guy ... glad you enjoyed the video. Yup, Lots of going over the parts diagrams & checking it twice to make sure I had everything ready & on hand when I started & Yup, lots of "Fiddle Fartin" to make things fit ... like that front bumper. I thought it would just go right on ... well, NOT SO!! GRRR!! Even with the radiator relocation kit, you end up only having the sides of your front rack to use. That's why I bought the bolt on rack system, so I would have some rack storage to use. And it seems to work great so far. I was going to use the front rack for my 1gal Roto Fuel Paks (to replace the 2 gal one I use to have on the factory front rack) ... but I was surprised at the amount of heat coming out the sides of the radiator mount. Not sure why that never dawned on me before, but anyway, not sure I want that heat blowing onto the fuel paks ... at least in the summer months. And maybe it's no biggie ... who knows.
