This song could have been made last week, but it's from the 70's. WAY ahead of their time.

I followed this with the Boomtown Rats' video of "Someone's Looking at You" on my wamylove myspace blog, since it reminded me of a tape I made way back of songs about paranoia.. Thanks so much!

Agree about Drum & Wires (and the comments about Dave Gregory's god-like skills). There was not asuperfluous note on the album -- it was a masterpiece -- and the way they toured behind it left my mouth agape -- saw them in 80 in NYC and San Francisco. Top shows in my pantheon.

Documented down like rats they're catching up on every squeal. Annoyingly, I had this song running through my head non-stop for HOURS as I failed to sleep one night last week prior to racing the bike leg of a Half-Iron triathlon relay. I was, in fact, documented down like a rat the very next morning. Frustratingly, I shared this with friends, none of whom could appreciate the reference to this brilliant song.

The chaps blew it big time by not making this fab song the follow up to 'Making plans for nigel'.

far, far ahead of it's time... rythmically, lyrically, and mentally... "this is pop", maybe, but there's something else there too, a little more distrubing, as well....at the time it felt like "punk in disguise" and all the more exciting because of that... brillant!

That isn't really 100% true. I have actually heard XTC on Swedish radio three times in the last 25 years.

Why why why aren't xtc famous? They weren't handsome, but their music is good even today, 30 years after.

Because their sound did not fit into any mainstream narrative. That and our joke of a music industry is run by bottomfeeder criminals who don't care about talent as much as they care about money
