Good job. your saving money and learning many things that will help in the future. you will make mistakes, break connector clips, move your harness around till it looks like the picture you took at the beginning. When you are done you will say" well that wasn't that hard". I did it and now I think I can do it in an hour, because of what I learned. I would like to mention that I took a vacuum on the engine first to see if it was worth the sensor repair, and I had a steady 20 inches and went on with the job. Go for it. Great tutorial. Professional mechanics always make it look easy but it is not. I just did this on my 04 X and it took me two days but now that I've done it once, Im confident that I could do it in less than 4 hours. Long needle nose pliers with a bent end are really helpful. Careful of the wire connectors as they are brittle. Take before pictures to help remember where everything goes.

@Pr0ph3cy-k5z3 жыл бұрын
The knock sensor has nothing to do with a random misfire code. Bad distributor, blown head gasket. Are you losing coolant? You can easily test the resistance to your knock sensor at the harness on top of the engine that crosses over the upper rad hose/coolant tube. If memory serves me right, it is pin #8 on the harness. You'll need to find a wiring diagram. Once you locate the connector, it has 8 wires on it. The thickest wire is the knock sensor wire.

A knock sensor will not cause transmission issues regarding shifting. Ironically on this engine, the TPS sensor going bad will. It's likely your shift solenoids which are located inside the transmission pan and valve body. Not difficult to change out. Patience and time and take pictures of EVERYTHING you remove. It took me 7 hours to change mine out on a 01 frontier 3.3 with no transmission experience.
