I feel like when people talk about Sora's character, they forget he's not finished. It's easy to love an Aqua or a Roxas because their arcs have, for the most part, concluded. The full story is there. Sora's story won't be done until the last KH game comes out, so it's easy now for some people to say he's flat or lacks depth because we're not at that point yet. I really think the Dark Seeker saga has mostly been build up for Sora's character, and now that he's all alone in Quadratum we're really going to get to see another side of him. That's my take anyways :) Great discussion!

I don’t think it was toxic or “overhyping” to want some type of update on Kingdom Hearts. In fact how SE has been going ghost on its fans for the last few years is extremely unprecedented & unprofessional compared to past years. In the wait from 2013-2019 for KH3, there was news, updates, & game releases pretty much every year between Re-release collections, X/Unchained/Union/Dark road updates, news on KH3 periodically, etc. since KH4 has been announced, we have gotten none of that. Not a single update on either game in almost 3 years. That’s unacceptable. They don’t have to show us “too much,” or whatever but the fanbase at least deserves some type of periodic update on development so we even know what’s going on with the games. That’s not entitled. It’s just respectful to us as fans who care about the franchise.

Patience my friend. I've waited longer for a sequel only for that sequel to be half assed.

Over hyping yourself for a game that doesn't exist yet is only going to lead to disappointment a single trailer doesnt make a game. I have no expectations for kh4 because it not real yet i will judge it apon it's release date and not one day sooner.

I'll say this, some fans didn't learn anything during the wait for KH3.

I don't even want them to show disney worlds in kh4 trailers. I dont know what they could put in them but they need to not show anything. Just give me a release date. The problem with modern gaming and games or just anything in general now is people want stuff handed to them and spoiled to thm theirs trailers and social media. I want to be surprised by everything in kh4 just like I wanted to be surprised in kh3 il just have to avoid the kh4 trailers hopefully they don't outright announce which worlds are going to be in

They never did that for any of the games. They always revealed all of the worlds before the release date. It’s part of the marketing.

Yes over hyping a non existent product is an issue…it’s on the fault of the company for creating this mentality. I genuinely can’t think about it too much because I can’t help but feel a lot of anger for Square Enix…yes KH3 was the best selling game so far but they can’t hope to have the same results when they’re putting us all through another horrible development cycle. I’m ofc going to buy this damn game day one though…sigh.

People that didn’t like kingdom hearts three I really don’t understand why it was really good in my opinion. It’s honestly my second favorite game out of the whole series. I feel like people had the sex expectation that I don’t even know what it was. Only complaints I would say is that the overarching story didn’t really have an impact in the Disney World and everything felt rushed at the end but other than that, I enjoyed it.

For me anyway I really don't think it's that deep. Look forward to it showing up at an event watch it might not and if it doesn't oh well back into kh hibernation we go.

I agree, KH 3 being bad is not the fault of the people getting too excited. It's just a bad game that came out 15 years after KH 2. It took way too long and was not good. That's all there is to it. Edit: Is it wrong to expect the level of quality of the game the came before it? Edit edit: A game that requires DLC to be complete and have a good and fun ending is not a good game. KH 3 ending was so lame and cliche. What did kari even do? Someone in the auqua trio shouldn't have made it.

Is the game bad based on story or gameplay because if we’re talking about the latter I had so much fun with the gameplay
@Zudovader15 күн бұрын
@@lelandb255the game play is mostly fine. I think sora is too mobile at the beginning, maybe could have gotten flow motion and walk on walls as abilities so we can go back and explore new places in every world. And the Disney rides were obnoxious and hurt game play. But ya story, character arcs, wasted potential and the fact that DLC is what everyone says is the best part of the game, oh and the voice acting was not very good either, just all added together to make for a game I wasn't very fond of coming off of KH2, BBS, chain and days all being so well written and put together with the systems of game play.

So now that I've watched from start to finish, I'm going to setup my reply: Where I blame Square Enix, is strictly on the lack of communication with fans and managing expectations. They're awful at that, so I'm happy to give them the smoke for it. Where I will blame fans, is that the criticisms I'm seeing of KH3 are so subjective and based on personal expectations, hopes, etc. It had to be a certain way, follow a certain script in their mind. For others, it had to be KH2 but more. I'm going to plant my flag and say this, KH3 is the best in the franchise in terms of GAMEPLAY. The Caribbean is my favourite world because it had SO MUCH TO DO. I have the final ship in that world and just loved exploring it. That world should be the standard for all worlds, especially if they're going to make less of them. Now, regarding the trailers and expectations? It's cultural and possibly generational. Japanese media and hype is about enabling Theorycrafting. To do that, you show big moments to shock the audience and put them out of context. Those trailers weren't meant to convey "There's something more", it was "How did this happen?" In which us theorycrafters had a field day and ate great. Regarding KH3 being good because of Re: Mind. Rather than Re: Mind completing KH3, it BRIDGES KH3 to KH4 and beyond. Allowing so much theorycrafting and fairly decent eating. So when I saw the KH4 trailer as a Versus XIII fangirl, it was the best thing ever. KH4 Sora easily best outfit for me, the look was this perfect marriage of KH and Versus XIII. Best of all, it fulfilled the call back of KH1 that I've spoken about here in comments and just pondered since KH1: "Is any of this for real, or not?" Lastly, I love Union X and Dark Road so much, easily 2nd and 3rd favourite games in the franchise because the storytelling in those are superior to even the mainline but lacking Gameplay wise. Missing-Link may not have the same hype but once it's in our hands and we're experiencing the Missing Links in KH as we do the KH4 marketing cycle? We're going to have a great time and eat well. Just...have to wait for Square Enix to get their stuff together. I'm not worried about the KH Team dev wise, I'm more worried about Missing-Link's team cause gacha titles tend to lean a certain way that I don't think is entirely compatible with Disney.
