Fucheng’s love for Wei ling you is the ultimate love - loving without counting the cost and his respect and understanding on why she made those choices, and his own choice of accepting royal decree and still being loyal to the emperor after everything - hats off. This tv series dragged my heart through the mud. I am not going to pretend that I like the emperor's relationship with yingluo because I don't. I really was hoping for fuheng and her to be together. He was so faithful but he did make the wrong choice. This made me so upset but I am happy she never gave her entire heart to the emperor.

i whole heartedly agree!! I had to suffer watching wei yingluo get all lovey dovey. In the end, she did love both Fuheng and the Emperor, but she promised to protect only Fuheng in the next life... God, I just always see the two together in the clouds after watching the last episode.

I personally think he didnt made the wrong choice. He just had no choice. And then afterwards, Yingluo also had no choice but to be with the emperor bc she wants to revenge for the queen. So I’d like to think fate was just cruel towards them in there:(

Oh thank you for mentioning this! I watched this a week back and reading people's comments about how the emperor loved her and how that justified his evil deeds just irritated me greatly! Love is definitely selfless. Having hundreds of women in your harem and breaking the love of your sincere brother in law does not count as love. Making a woman suffer because you want to have her is not love, in fact it is the reverse! I also think what she had for the emperor was not "love". As she says to Minyue, what she does is survival. She is trying to make a good life with what is available.

OMG same. Emperor could be her father or uncle. I don't like that at all. But the story has to drag out to 70 episodes, and they had to make audiences angry and heartbroken, to continue watching in hopes of seeing what they wanna see in the end. I'm at ep 50 after binging for a week, and I'm too sad to move on and finish the series. I jumped to "General's Lady" for a complete lovey dovey 180 romantic historical drama to take an emotional break from "Story of Yanxi". Now my cousins are watching Yanxi, and catching up to me. 😂

I can understand his reaction. I've watched all the episodes 10 times ( I don't get tired of it as so well made), and I cry at that scene every time, even though I know its coming. And even this clip had me in tears. Great actors, not just the main ones but the supporting cast. Just trying to get the english version of the follow on and the legend of hao lan, all episodes.

I just finished watching episode 40 and I don't have any plan of finishing the whole series (as if now) after finding out that Fu Heng and Yingluo won't end up together. Maybe I'll finish it once I'm strong enough and mature enough to watch the whole series and to accept the ending.

When people felt upset when Yingluo and the emperor ended up together is how upset I felt when Sunyang and the emperor ended up together in Empress Ki. Though he died at the end, which is a pity. But the fact that Sunyang chose the Emperor over Wang Yu still upsets me so much up to this day. Though in Yanxi Palace I like Yingluo and the emperor better.

I think that is why Ying Luo never told the emperor she loved him, because she also loved Fu Heng. If she did maybe she felt it was betraying Fu Heng? She loved two men. If she told them she loved them, then she would loose them both.

True! only i think the emperor also likes that flirting game and teasing from Yinglou. He's a complicated person, used to danger and intrigues, to tell him so openly that he is loved and admired means to make him calm and loose his interest in a moment. All his life is about preserving his state, conquering new tribes and lands, he's used to that adrenaline, and though he guesses she loves him, he is never sure 100%, it also can take one his mistake and she can fall out of love with him (just like he treats the rest of his harem, everyone has to lure him and preserve his favor), so she is the queen of his heart and he must nurture her love for him and conquer her every day.
