Hello from America where agave utahensis comes from! I don't think either of those is agave utahensis var. eborispina. I'm pretty positive that is agave utahensis var. nevadensis due to the shorter spines and blue color. I have a couple nevadensis at home, as well as a few eborispina. That 2 headed beast is definitely nevadensis. The very next utahensis in the video appears to also be nevadensis. You're a great grower so keep it up! I'm always impressed by your agave.

I bought and sowed the seeds as eborispina, but I did feel that the coloration of the leaves was similar to the characteristics of utahensis var. nevadensis! My personal perception of nevadensis is that the spines are short and reddish brown and the leaves are blue in color. On the other hand, I think that ebolispina is characterized by long spines, ivory color, and wide serrations, and since the strain introduced here contains both elements, natural hybridization is also possible! I will upload a video of the cultivation of this strain again, so please come and visit me 🌱.

@@anohinoengei Fascinating. It could be a cross of both eborispina and nevadensis. "Eboridensis"? 😂 When you buy from a seed vendor you never really know what you're going to get until you sprout them. Nevadensis does have a few forms that are similar to what you described, so it is still possible you got nevadensis seeds sold as eborispina seeds. Some people don't even know there is a difference between utahensis varieties. It is hard to say for sure, but I'd still guess that those are nevadensis. Could be a cross, but likely not a cross. I have one nevadensis with white spines that looks almost exactly like the one in your video. Short white spines with a little bit of red, nearly straight leaves pointing outward at the base, and that characteristic blue color. We shall see as they progress into maturity. Give us an update on them in about a year and we should know for sure. Take care!

If the characteristics are that consistent, this strain is probably nevadensis 😂. I think I'll give it a year anyway!

@@anohinoengei I spoke with a friend of mine that lives in the state of Nevada who happens to be an expert on utahensis. He's a photographer and frequently takes walks through the mountains to photograph utahensis in habitat where he lives. His best guess is that your utahensis plants are eborispina. He said it's a little early to tell, but he's pretty confident that you're correct about your plants being eborispina. Now I feel silly for even suggesting that they might be nevadensis 😂

@@cactsai I am surprised that your friend is an expert on utaensis! It seems to me that it is definitely an ebolispina. However, given the color of the blue leaves and the short spines, I think there is a non-zero chance that it is a nevadensis 😂. In any case, it remains an important plant and I will continue to keep an eye on it! Thank you very much!
