I use throttle to control direction of landing. Your jump also has its own compression happening with the tire stacks squishing as the car hits it, making for abnormal results. I like the inner spring idea! But I'm too traditional in thinking shock position, spring type, spring tension and oil viscosity changes are best to "tune" this out. Cheers!
Fun fact: real rally car coilover dampers have this "Helper Spring" that is too soft to be able to raise the car, but simply aids in further extending the damper when on a jump, to ensure the jump impact is first absorbed by the shock damper before the main spring. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2TMfJSjq6aamaM
