Very nice question. The answer to that is pretty relative and it honestly varies from person to person. Here's an example: if you were to have a doll that you so very loved, but you've outgrown said doll and its time to pass it on to say your younger sister the next day. It doesn't mean you love the doll even more because it'll be gone tomorrow, it means you expected this day to one day come therefore you hurt less because your emotions have built around the idea of knowing that it would one day be passed on. to appreciate something and to love something is two complete separate ideas that we struggle to understand. If the worst were to ever come don't fall victim to your emotions, simply try your best to appreciate the time that you guys spent together. when I say to expect the worst I mean to always safe guard your emotions and protect your energy, it is not guaranteed that your partner will leave that's a hypothesis. Some have the ability to be strong willed and hold off from fully committing to said person whereas others continue to have a hard time and gradually fall deeper in love, these are the people that hurt the most after a breakup. It all comes down to protecting your energy and safeguarding yourself from trauma. I hope this helped!

This is what the songwriter himself has to say. Hanbin said first part is about life. Second part is about relationship. "I'M OK is a story about how we face sadness that we don't understand as we live and how the formal and shallow comfort of others become a poison to you instead. To overcome such situation, rather than the comfort of others', even if it's sad, you need time to be alone to understand your feelings and sadness"

I'M OK literally means I'M NOT OK.... the first verse is about life, the second about love.... "MY ANSWER WILL ALWAYS BE A SMILE IF ANYONE ASKS HOW I'M DOING" that verse hit hard.. Those stacks of chair symbolises the chaos he had to go though to get himself back on top although he's all by himself, those wall of luggages represents his excess baggages that continue to file up without him realising and when he tried to break through from it, its already too late, he's trapped/stuck.. and those plastic empty battles represents how he looks good and neat on the outside but empty on the inside.. And the exploding car is actually him finally exploding, he couldn't take no more that resorted him to finally breakdown(on his knees), i'm not so sure about the straight up latter reference but its somehow similar to being on the edge all the time and like falling on a cliff where any wrong move its over for him, the other where he's peeking on the hole represents how he knows what's been going on around him and all the people around him but he chose to distance himself cuz he's tired of everyone else putting a fake front.. The parachute I guess is him falling hard in life but getting back up and thriving i'm also not sure 😂😂

I always like how iKON music are always have straight-forward lyrics that reflect deep emotion, complimented by a perfect melody and nuance. They are like the opposite of Winner that have more simple beat with playful lyrics with wordplays, it's not they make easy lyrics, but they used wordplay to imply a deeper meaning or double meaning, Yoon & Mino love to write lyrics like that. I love them all, both groups are true musical genius group.

I always interpreted this as them not talking to other people, but to themselves. They're trying to convince themselves that they're ok despite the reality around them. That's why the lyrics contradict both the video and the music. There is a lot of dissonance going on in the song.
