what a lot of people forget is Minzy(the girl on the far right) was not much older than the students that were lost in the ferry accident. She had just turned 20 when this was performed. Also CL and Park Bom were both sick. As a trainee Park was diagnosed with lymphadenitis , a disease that affects the lymph nodes. You can actually see this on Bom as she is singing. Cl was also very sick and, I believe, had to be taken to the hospital after the performance. The fact that they were able to pull off a performance of this caliber in their condition is a testament to their skill and professionalism.

Ooohh...no..I..that's long. You don't have to read it, but I don't want to delete it either. I apologize. Also that because she was with 2NE1 she didn't get to have many adolescent experiences. Even after she became an adult one of her biggest dreams was to simply go on a trip with her friends because she hadn'tever gotten to..she didn't get that until she became an adult and it was because of Slam Dunk at her request. Obviously trips with your friends, especially school friends meant a lot to her. The fact that something she possibly considered to be one of the pinnacles of adolescents ended that way for so many pretty much her own age...and their families dealing with the hurt afterwards. It probably broke her a bit inside. 👈 This was my reply to you. This was my mind roaming and my fingers following along. 👇 Her trips with 2NE1 were always for work and even those died down for her in particular. Now that I think about it. When she finally left the company..CL was in the States and her and Dara usually went out together. Dara and Bom had recently left for a girls trip of their own. That could've honestly struck a cord and aided her decision. Also, BB were on tour and the younger artist were all busy preparing for their comebacks and tours. Even before the younger ones came BB and the older members of 2NE1 usually went out together without her after a certain point. She was happy when she got to preform with EH, but after that she was back to not having anything to do...with nobody she really knew because she said by that time, her knowing how to interact with people was difficult for years now, right..and when she left she immediately brought a family quality to the small company she went to before that went down. If she still felt like YGE was a family or at least a family she was included on and not seeing everyone else grow together..More so the one's she grew with specifically. She most likely would've have signed that contract despite not knowing if 2NE1 would comeback soon. Because the thought that they'd stick together would be there regardless. (All of this half obviously isn't fact..I want to say that) Just...for anyone. Your heart doesn't really choose to stay when it doesn't feel like it's at peace and at home. You go searching for the home where those around you make you feel like you belong with them. When her contract came..it was obvious she'd been hurt. And she was by herself. She probably wasn't even able to get into contact with anyone to talk about what she was going through. But that's also the first time rumors like that had blown up around Minzy since her career started and it was constantly over those months. You'd think they'd talk at least checking in to see how she was holding up. But she was also the one they didn't really have to worry about because she has this aura of maturity and solidness. They didn't know they needed to seriously step in until it was too late. But it built them into what they are right now. You can tell each of them are holding things in and back..but they as 4 actually try to get together once a year and have more interactions when they aren't.

You literally put how I feel about 2ne1 in perfect words. I grew up listening to 2ne1 and can fully say it’s part of my childhood and even now, they affected me a lot more than I had realized. And you’re correct about Mamamoo, they come closest to how 2ne1’s stage presence and that’s how I came to stan them now. After 2ne1 disbanded I left the kpop scene but Mamamoo brought me back. And I’m glad they did because I was able to experience to see 2ne1 live again even though it was just through a screen. My only regret and wish and that I am able to see 2ne1 in live performance. Hands down 2ne1 has the best stage presence and so ahead of their own time.

But still,their voices are amazing and unique , realIy captivate me even .ICYMI I remember this tape was a special stage tribute to Sewol ferry's victims in Korea. 2NE1 are so good that is hard to put into words, they are outstanding musicians, performers and artists. They are what originally made Kpop so famous for many people outside Korea and Asia. During their peak they were truly such an important symbol of female empowerment, especially coming form a conservative culture such as the south korean culture and an inspiration for so many people around the world. What they did with their artistry and their craft cannot be replaced or copied. Thank you for this reaction and also you have an extremely beautiful voice and I love your energy.

I don’t believe the song itself was written about the Sewol tragedy. Rather this specific performance was dedicated to the victims of the tragedy. The song had just been released, and 2NE1 wanted to dedicate this performance. The incident was tragic, but even more than that. It was infuriating because the amount of deaths could have been reduced (maybe even to 0). There’s a 30min youtube clip from CNN (I think) that recaps that day, and the aftermath of it. Highly recommend. It still angers me to this day.

One of the members, Park Bom, performed her song Wanna Go Back on a show called Queendom. I believe it is a reality survival show that puts six female teams in a comeback battle. The cast were AOA, MAMAMOO, (G)I-DLE, Lovelyz, OH MY GIRL, and Park Bom. There are many references in the performance. There is a part where she sings right next to three other microphones that signify the three other members. I hope you check it out! I also hope you can react to Goodbye by 2NE1. just wanted to let you know, that the yellow ribbon they are all wearing is in tribute to all the lives of the teachers, students and staff that were lost in sewol ferry disaster. Many of the ferry crew escaped, leaving the teenagers trapped in the bottom of the ship, they were told not to move, they died, while the ferry crew escaped, the only students the escaped were the ones who didn't listen to the rules went to the top of the ship. there are videos on youtube of children saying goodbye to their parents as a joke and filming the ship sinking at a tilt. please watch at your own risk. the case was pushed aside by the government but has reopend and is being reinvestigated. BTS spring day is about this incident, please watch the Spring day music video explained. it will break your heart. the country and people will never forget about this.
