I just started listening to X last weekend. I never understood his music, rather I actually never gave it the chance because I heard Look at Me, but I thought it was just as generic as most of the other stuff out there. I was so wrong, even the track itself is testimony to his distorted mind and hectic life. I first stumbled onto a Star Wars Old Republic trailer that had one of his songs Alone played over it and I really fucked with it. Then I just couldn’t get enough of his music and I watched a KZbin video called “XXXTentacion a Tormented Mind” by Mramazing ... I now view X as one of this generations greatest writers and music composers. I just wished I gave him a chance before I heard most of his music posthumous, but it is a different experience entirely. Rest easy X.

After watching the documentary, it all came flooding back. When it zoomed out to show his mausoleum, I broke down and I ran back to these old songs. The songs I found in 2015 when I was a young teen. I can almost smell the nostalgia. I can smell 2015/2016. The summer air, sitting at my desk and finding him for the first time. Csgo in the background, x music playing and thinking it was unlike anything I’ve ever heard. God, I wanted to be like him. These songs are what sparked my production passion. Watching the documentary also brought be back to the exact moment I opened twitter and saw that X was shot. It haunts me. It’s just not fair. I don’t know why I feel such a personal connection with him just like everyone else does, but we just do. It’s such a weird feeling, laying in bed crying over someone I never knew. I never felt pain for anyone like that before. X was different. He wasn’t like anyone else. Explain why it’s him I feel such a connection with. I hope that when I die, I can thank him. And ask him the many questions I ask myself every time I come back to these songs. Every time I look back at this era of my life. Why was it you whom I feel such deep emotions for? I pray there’s an afterlife so I can speak to you one day, X.
