Nah, Endless Night has a more "pop metal" chorus. The riffs in Don't light my fire is more heavy than in No more, but No More is more heavy overall.

Eclipse is actually the opener for season 2 of the King's Raid anime! The original shortened version doesn't feature Handong, but the full version does. You _will_ hear more of Dami's higher register singing; I almost don't want to spoil you for which songs, though... 😈 No More was recorded before Handong returned from China, so she _is_ missing from that one. It was released as a digital single in November with an animated lyric video, but this its first time on a CD. Yeah, Japan is _far_ more receptive to rock on the whole than Korea... I totally agree about the use of their lower registers. Siyeon did a recent cover of a Lee Seunggi song where she really made use of hers, and it was _heaven_ for me... 😍

Traditionally Koreans expect female singers to sing in a high register so Kpop girl groups are all trained to sing that way. Dreamcatcher members can all sing in the lower registers that female singers in the West use. You can tell that just from listening to their speaking voices, especially when they speak English. Tastes are changing though, the popularity of Jihyo with her warm honey voice shows that. Every time I hear Siyeon singing American R&B I want a whole album and I know she loves that genre.

I listened to a lot of Japanese Rock in high school- Gackt, Miyavi, An Cafe, Gazette, Verscallie Philoharmic Quartet (don’t think I spelled that right), LM.C, L’Arc De L’Circle (don’t think I spelled that right), Hyde. Heck I still listen to it now and again when the mood hits me. So I love how hard their Japanese releases are. Though their rock infused KPop feeds my inner rocker- jrock or otherwise. Don’t light my Fire and Endless Night are probably my favorite Japanese release with Eclipse or Breaking Out as third. I also love My Way,I Miss You and No More.

This metalhead is so glad you reacted to this one and liked it a lot! This EP contains their heaviest songs except for Endless Night and Break the Wall. Gotta check out Endless Night, which along with No More are the most 'metal' out of all of their songs. And it's no coincidence that all of these tracks are Japanese, except for Break the Wall - because Japan is more accepting of rock/metal sounds than Korea is, especially when fused into pop (as you alluded to).

Dami's parts in Don't Light My Fire is my favorite part of the song and yes to all of them using more of their lower registers. Yoohyeon puts hers to brilliant use in a cover of Oh My (with Siyeon and SuA).

The three songs in this EP are among my top 10 Dreamcatcher songs. No More and Don't Light my Fire are my indisputable favorites. Two insane Metal songs, one of them being clearly inspired by Finnish Symphonic Metal? Which, by the way, I never expected. I love how these girls are capable of singing absolutely EVERYTHING

Eclipse is def my favorite on the album. No More and Don't Light My Fire were good but not quite my brand of rock music. Like you, I did appreciate the lower register that the group was singing in and I always love it when Dreamcatcher get a chance to flex their versatility! It was accurate when you said the song Eclipse was classic Dreamcatcher because it was the only song on the album produced by their main producers, Leez and Ollounder, the other two tracks were produced by a different group.

Unfortunately they didn't make a mv for eclipse, I guess they thought it wasn't worth it if they couldn't go to japan to promote. I think you would like endless night, I still consider it to be their hardest song, cuz it has like a kinda trash metal sound. Also the reason Handong isn't on No more is because that one was recorded months ago, actually it was released back on november, they just included it in this album for some reason

I love No More. It is TRÜE METÄL! I am a metalhead, I can judge that. 😉 Don't light my fire isn't as heavy as No More, mostly because the guitars aren't tuned down, but it is very inspired by Nightwish and also a great song. If you haven't heard Endless Night yet, you definitely should! Since you said there are no vocals like that in metal, have you heard Babymetal? If not, you should check them out.

Thanks for the reaction. Was smiling throughout the whole thing, especially the rocking and vibing to "No More" . Also wish they'd do more types of these songs, but it's also hard since their other type of songs are amazing as well! Their Japanese EPs tend to be more like this, so at least we have that. I also agree with you about their lower registers, they each sound amazing and it's a pleasant and nice surprise when I hear it.

metal, or rock for that matter isn't popular in korea so I doubt they would go heavier. since they went more 'poppy' with their dystopia series, they got a lot more popular so I'm afraid they continue in that direction. prior to the eclipse album, I was hoping for some kind of symphonic metal korean title track and we kinda got that with don't light my fire. since they can't promote in japan, they haven't made an mv/choreo since endless night. sometimes I wonder if they could become equally popular if they really went metal since there is a pretty huge metal fan base out there. ps looking good with your hair tied back ;)

try Endless Night another japanese EP and a Japanese title track Breaking Out but there is a japanese Bside MY WAY and it also slaps.. Dami can have a soft singing voice especially in their previous album Bsides, and I think you should start to have a full album listen of their EPs and albums even in your own time.. Handong has really that low and full low register eversince..not just utilize one example is in opening line of a Bside titled SILENT NIGHT

If I have to guess, I think there's some sort of cultural reluctance on the metal sound in Korea, just as there is a wide reluctance to every genre emerging pretty much anywhere. As much as I'm metal listener, I don't pretend metal sound is for every "ear"... BUT when you keep listening on something new you start to get pieces you like, and eventually you could even start to like the all thing. Anyway your little headbanging was top, that's simply impossible to stop. :D
