I have this beast, earlier 1.2L one....even after 3 years of owning this, every time I go behind the wheel I get a broad smile on my face. I earlier had manual creta and I switched to this car, not even a single moment I regret it. The reason is, I drive my car and 7 out of 10 times either I am the only one in the car or max one more person. This car is not for 5 people or even 4. But the biggest issue I see in India is, even if in a family there are 2-3 people, they want a big car. Its hardly decided by practical usage, but how big a car is ...how big is boot space though there are hardly any big luggage kept in the car. Having said that if you have a requirement where you need to keep loads of luggage or more than 2 people travelling most of the time, don't think about this car. But if you are a commuter who goes to office with a laptop and lunch bag, don't look else where. But again if you want those fancy features which hardly anyone uses like much talked about ADAS feature, sunroof (I have so many friends owning cars with sunroof, but never ever opens it),10-15-20 inches of screen with everything operated by touch (which is nightmare), this is not for you. One final thing, don't talk anymore about service cost (even if you don't drive 20K a year) , in all these 3 years I never paid more than 7-8K. And no issues whatsoever with customer experience. VW has very good followup mechanism in place and service center cant fool you around.

I too have 2015 model petrol, i get it serviced once every year and it usually cost around 7-8 K/year. Tbh it's an drivers car and I usually drive alone so I believe it is perfect for me.

Agree that the tsi engine is the best performer in terms of straight line speed. But why do anyone spend 12 lac on road in places like blore and sit in a congested car which is decade old in terms of comfort. i20 nline handles much better than polo and have the best steering feel and feedback currently in the indian market. With useful features like projector headlamps hill hold assist, bose speakers, roomy cabin, comfortable seats and great looks no wonder why they are selling in large numbers.

What you are saying makes no sense…..the car is old and outdated…. It is a good option for 2nd hand market , but not for new buyers……way too many compromises for a better drive…. As you said for commuters who go to the office with a laptop and lunch bag, don’t really car about getting maximum performance but instead a car that is good looking, good to drive, has features and is not a decade old….

I own a Polo comfort-line TSI. I have driven Venue diesel and Seltos P Turbo , nothing comes close to Polo's handling. the steering feedback of polo is top notch ( like expensive car ) , and the pickup is simply mind blowing! Negatives IMO : rear seat space. No reverse camera.

@@coptic9656 have stopped visiting service centre due to really horrible experiences since 2 years. In these 2 years, I've got crucial parts repaired for 15-20K for which service centre gave an estimate of 160K plus taxes. Same story with service of our Skoda Rapid DSG

Driving POLO 1.2 Diesel from almost 10 years now. No new car come close to this beauty, the more you drive more you enjoy it. Safety, Performance, looks, Reliability, everything is fabulous. Unfortunately due to new NGT rule, i have to change it, but its extremely difficult for me to find any other close match as I don't want a big car considering Delhi's traffic and parking space

That is a masterpiece and in India no car can beat it in any term of satisfection..I am owner of Polo TDI 1.5 ,,16 model and running 147000km ,..I want to give real exp review ..I am also from himachal and I rode this beast in all type conditions road ,even in no road area but never feel get down..it's real rocket when I drove it on 200 km/he on highways without any loss of confidence...I am taking 30 to 38 km/L everage for my daily office..on meter it gives up to 585km/l and in general 28km/l easily ...20km/l in city with trafic ..till now apart from service I never replace any thing ..till now it feel as a brand in new .no issue at all .I think it's very economical when comparing to my previous form Figo and Swift...but driving feel of this car is unmatchable because of German design ..best in all because it's VW

I have polo Tdi 1.2 …have made numerous 1000kms plus trips and performs like new. Now it’s 115k kms run and 11 years old. No creaking noise, cabin is still like new. Stage 1 tuned for past 30k kms and makes 100bhp.

I went to make enquiry for the Polo and Taigun SUV/car, and my expectation was built quality would be superior. I found the model 2018-19 built quality and today models have some differences. I found latest model is more or less similar to Maruthi Bolano kinds of, and really surprise for me. I do not know this company considered to be superior built quality and latest model seems not good. The only option left is Tata cars. Please update on these points why companies are making cheaper quality products and taking highest money. I will cross verify with Skoda product next weeks, and lets see. I hope Skoda will provide built quality like Tata etc. Earlier it was reverse now these companies are learning from Maruthi for low built quality.

I tried polo last week. It was kind of scary the level of confidence it gives. Na chahtay hue bhi gaadi khich jaati hai. Pehli gaadi hai jisme mujhe over confidence aaya chalate hue. Matlab it is soo good it is unsafe. So booked verna. Wo speed limit mei chalegi.

@@kaustavbanerjee3589 Yeah XUV300 is pretty good in petrol. Diesel has prominent turbo lag. I was actually pretty confused between XUV300 and verna. But XUV300 has pretty weird pricing. There is 2 lacs difference between w4 and w6 variant. This extra 2 lacs will only get you remote central locking and music system. And the quality of speakers is pretty bad. I didn’t want to install anything aftermarket. Moreover I needed engine smoothness. Verna was ticking all the boxes.

I had 1.2 TDI 2011 model. Driven for 1.32 lakh KM. Sold her in 2017. She was gem of a car. Apart from turbo lag, no complaint at all. Once in turbo zone, it can beat any car even from one segment above. Gave 20 plus mileage every time no matter how hard i drove. Great driving dynamics. Hardly replaced any part apart from regular service. Couldn’t find such a driver’s car in its budget after selling it. Then got pre-worshipped linea diesel (2.5 years old with 15000 km on odo) and got it remapped from Wolfmoto. Now i don’t miss my polo except polo interiors fit and finish.

Polo is just awesome . If anyone loves driving, so you gets full confidence and just love with polo. I also own a polo and i regularly drive maruti ignis delta amt 2018 model but when i started driving polo , am in love with this car. Skoda superb , fortuner, scorpio and many more car don't comes near me when i drive this car on mumbai - navi mumbai express way . I was easily cruise with this car on 120- 140 on navi mumbai express way and with full of confidence i can easily switch between first to forth lane .

For hills go for natural aspirated engine like k15. It has good low end torque Which is necessary for hills. Turbo charge has good power end torque but after 2000 rpm low end torque completely missing...

only two living legends VW Polo and Ford Ecosport no one can match these two ... I had the same situation and where my heart says Polo and need says Ecosport. And settled down with Ford ES S - Diesel. Did test drive for everything else .. Creta, Seltos, XUV 300, nexon, sonet, venue. The other reason was Taigun was not in the market then

One more negative in hills , be very careful while driving in those Nalas (water streams on roads) , second nhin dala to apka bumper neeche se gya. One solution is bolt it with screws. I have a TDI done 65k in 5 years.

When a person decides to buy a car, the buyer not only look for car performance but also many things such boot space, leg room for rear seat passenger, low maintenance, new features and best mileage and all these things are missing from this car. VW has vibration since it is 3 cylinder car. In normal service you will be paying somewhere around 15k to service centre and you will get very less like boot space and old design and less mileage. All the above points were matter to me so I didn’t choose this.

feature does not matter much, you should have checked out vento if you were looking for boot and leg space.

Maintenance cost for 2nd service is 7.5k, also it doesn't have typical 3 cylinder vibrations. I have rapid tsi which is almost similar to polo, and cabin is very silent probably best in class. In fact honda city doesnt hav as silent cabin as rapid. Rapid nd vento were available for huge discounts and slight increase in budget over premium hatchback could hav got anyone one of two. Also when driven nicely, tsi does offer excellent mileage.

Lots of people say that polo has high maintenance, actually it is not that costly. This car needs servicing only after 15k km or 1 year. Yes its parts are costlier but they last long. I own polo TSI and the solid build quality and riding experience is not there in any other car so far for me.

What about the 'rattle' of 1.0 ltr. TSI? A petrol head needs 'zero' NVH( Otherwise, he would have taken a Diesel)!! Where is the refinement? Did VW gave back, cost benefit of small engine( from 4 cylinder to 3 cylinder) to the customer? Don't they deserve it? Vibrations propel ageing!! By this rule, this will rattle more, after five years!! Very risky!!

@@joshihemant2568 the rattle is in the lower rpm because it's a 3 cylinder. And with strict emissions, it is important to do that. So yes, NVH levels are a bit higher but certainly a lot lower than 3 cylinders in competition. As far as you "cost benefit" part goes, it needs a LOT more of good engineering to extract 110 ps from the smaller 1000cc 3 cylinder, which is easier to extract from a larger 1200cc 4 cylinder. But yet they have priced it competitively. That 1.0 TSI has won international engine of the year award under 1000cc category in 2018. To localise such a gem of an engine in India also needs a lot of funding, so get your facts right. Besides, an enthusiast doesn't care about NVH and all. A Ferrari F40 doesn't even have door handles, a lot of stuff is light plastic and it's still enthusiast's favourite because it is legendary to drive.

@@siddharthnautiyal5188 With due respect to your knowledge, letme make it clear, that I belong to the 'earlier' generation of 'expecting' 'noiseless' machines, if I invest in a petrol sedan. Fifteen years back, I was pained,when Toyota, Nissan came out with their four cylinder petrol engines( Etios, Micra) They used to rattle like a Diesel!! Horrible workmanship!! Only Suzuki, Honda stood out in silent, smooth petrol four cylinder engines!! VW, Skoda never competed in NVH for their 1.6, four cylinder 'Petrol Guzzler engine', but they had TSI( Why, Suzuki, Honda or Toyota are shying away, I don't know), yes Nissan is still supplying their Strongest 1.3 turbo petrol, but it has no takers!!! Why VW don't manufacture their legendary 1.5TSI is another Mistry!! Overall, Indian Sedan market doesn't have any choice. I will not put my money on a rattling 1.0 THREE CYLINDER TSI.

Fun fact....check the latest carwow video in which th vw polo GT version was defeated easily by both,the Ford Fiesta hatch and the i20 n line.....this car is good.....but certainly not the best in class anymore.
