Italy Self-Guided Travel Day 12, Matera Day 2. We started early in the morning for a very popular hiking tour in Matera. The 12-meter-high Tibetan Bridge connects Sassi and Murgia, crossing the Gravina Gorge. Initially, we set off confidently and fearlessly, but once the sun came out, we completely failed. The sunlight in Matera was too intense, and we didn't have enough water, so after crossing the Tibetan Bridge, we decided to turn back. Fortunately, we discovered another way to view the gorge from the top of Murgia on the rock church, for which we were truly grateful. On the way back, we also tasted Matera's famous dessert, "La Tetta della Monaca" (Nun's Breast). The actual name is "Nun's Breast," but it was renamed to "Girl's Breast" for a more pleasant sound.
Additionally, I introduced the Il Terrazzino restaurant, which has become popular thanks to social media influencers. Honestly, its prices are quite moderate for Italy, and the food is served quickly. The restaurant offers local dishes, which are pretty good. I’d give it an 8.5 out of 10. You don't necessarily have to sit outside as it can be noisy with many people; sitting inside is actually quite nice.
