雜誌社總編輯戈碧獨霸天下，當她以為可控制兒子戈德的未來人生時，一位平庸兼無品味的周麗敏以慢打快成功入屋做了戈師奶，敏更棄做警花轉做雜誌，令惡劣的婆媳關係火上加油。其後，碧因一宗不倫醜聞被得力助手高家寶陷害而失勢，加上與兒媳不和，令碧意興闌珊到離島避靜。碧在離島遇見了生命中的第二春，一位博學多才的監躉阿叔畢平凡，令碧自我反省及學懂放下。當萬事看似風平浪靜之際，敏卻揭發雜誌社遭奸人陷害，正面臨倒閉。
