What was incredible about LotGH was the sheer scale of the fleet battles. It was a common sight to see tens of thousands of cruiser and battleship tonnage warships on each side just smashing into each other. Losing a battleship almost every minute of battle, like a general would lose a foot soldier. Insane scale. In Star Wars, the Galactic Empire at its height had 25,000 Star Destroyers, which are perhaps only a little bigger than an LotGH Imperial Battleship. But the LotGH Galactic Empire had 150,000-200,000 Imperial Battleships at its height!

considering they could easily setup planets and asteroids to mass produce battle spaceships, they were pretty much cannon fodder.. one fleet was 25k..

@@migovas1483 yeah. It was mostly battleships that outright dish out hard damage at the front, while picket screens and ships were just used as force multipliers when packed fleets begin to smash through enemy fleets or when outflanking them with close range weapons. Still, one wrong move they can end up being cannon fodder to mass fighter strikes or sustained fire. There are literally millions of crewmen during every engagement too, which is pretty impactful especially when FPA decided to do a half-hearted invasion of the empire after the fall of iserlohn which cost them millions of experienced crew and irreplaceable ships just of some PR stunt which impacted the government so hard for years leading to mass upheavals. Which is pretty bad considering a battle can be that decisive that it can lead to empires collapsing overnight and evaporating their manpower reserves at an instant compared to other sci fi titles where even when planets get destroyed everybody still seems going along with it since it factors in political and internal issues rather than the stale 'good guy vs bad guy' tropes. Also, one key point too recurring in the series is that overall fleet performance is still dependent on the skill and talent of the admirals themselves and each ship's crew. The Empire might have a slight edge over technology with their particle cannons, Seffle anti ship mines and advanced Valkyrie fighters but the Alliance still has the slight edge on numbers and they still have high morale than imperial seamen and officers to boot before Reinhard came around and set things straight.

@@teruterubozo I think crew casualty rates are usually in the high 100ks for most battles, some of the bigger slugging matches hitting 1-2mil though that may be per side and thus usually having a 1+ mil total being normal.
@teruterubozo7 ай бұрын
@@DIEGhostfish yeah the amt. of crewmen who die actually in battle might be leeser, but i think the casualties also take into account ship crew surrendering, the wounded or those who died of starvation iirc.

The scale of these ships is really amazing especially in battle
The Imperial ships are more aesthetically pleasing to me.

I enjoy the utilitarian feel of the alliance ships
@showmicr6 жыл бұрын
@@elichalfant941 I think that might even be intentional as imperial ships are supposed to represent grandeur of the elite whereas the alliance have a much more struggling economy.
I muted the music in favor of putting on Ode to Joy in the background. Fit perfectly! But aaah, you didn't add Neidhart " _Grand Theft Battleship_ " Müller's _Perceval_ ship T_T
Would like to see more of the ships themselves compared with each others, rather than the sweeping cameras zooming through and panning around. it is difficult to actually judge how big the ships are in comparison with the others when the perspective, distance and view are constantly changing.
