Hello, I know this/your comment is from a year ago. Whether we might believe it or not, "Kyoto's Nights of 1000 demons" might not be a myth. Few months ago I found a channel in KZbin. I don't remember the channel or the title. But it looks like the ones in the video are/might be two young spiritualist or very learned occultist that resides in Japan(if I remember right, one of them is a white guy while the other one is Asian. Their 'house' looks Japanese). What I got/understand from what they discussed about "Kyoto's Nights of 1000 Demons" is that there are indeed many experts and powerful/high level omyojis or YinYang Masters as you know it, in Kyoto. The reason why the "Nights of 1000 demons" happened was because, that time they were making big, huge, massive 'barriers' around Kyoto. It was supposed to be a protective barrier against demons and non demon enemies. But what actually happened was that they accidentally(or maybe not😮) built the wrong barrier. Instead of protective barrier, the barrier that those omnyojis enacted "locked" those demons into the Kyoto city. During the day, it's peaceful but came sunset till dawn, parades of demons started to appear and kidnapped, terrorised people(might have eaten them too). I don't remember which omyoji did those 2 guys mentioned that saved the city and changed the barrier back into a protective one. They did mentioned Abe No Seimei in their talks but I don't remember what. But what is interesting in their talks is that the omnyojis from the old eras had continuously/slowly/systematically created/built strong barriers around Japan but that barrier had been highly damaged during WW2

Also, if the stories of those omnyojis are true, the Chinese YinYang Masters that those Heian Omnyojis learn from are quite powerful too, whoever and wherever they were. Actually, when I first saw QingYaJi movie's trailer when it first came out, I thought the plot was Abe No Seimei was being invited to come to whichever Dynasty in China in his era as some kind of ambassador from Heian Kyoto. I don't know...maybe to visit the true origin of the omyodo arts that he learned or something?
