It is very interest to hear the Japanese perspective of this movie. It is important to remember that this movie is not about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nor is it about the World War II generally. It is the life story of J. Robert Oppenheimer. His life both before and after the war is covered extensively. Oppenheimer was haunted by the guilt of creating such a destructive weapon. He created this destructive weapon to be used in war and as a result, the possibility of nuclear war will forever be his responsibility. I understand how some scenes in the film would be offensive to a Japanese. If I were to imagine an equivalent example for an American, it would be like watching a film created by Afghanistan depicting the plot to hijack multiple passenger jets to crash into the World Trade Center in New York, and watching people celebrate the collapse of the twin towers and the tragedy of innocent people dying. Though I am an American, and my opinion may not be valued regarding this film, I recommend that more people watch this film. The visuals are beautiful to watch and the music is outstanding, (Typically of soundtracks composed by Hans Zimmer). I found myself not quite following certain parts of the movie myself, because it is a drama film, and it is difficult to remember everything that happens in a three hour long film. I imagine that difficulty understanding is increased with having to read subtitles the entire time. There are youtube videos in Japanese that explain what happens in the movie for people who are confused. This video is a compilation of the film's most impressive scenes kzbin.info/www/bejne/gabMZoOmeZ58iqc
