I'm a fan of Patlabor. Hope to see the AV-98 in a movie one day :)

Michael Bay, this is how you make a good live action robot movie.

Primus Productions DAMN RIGHT!! I love the first Transformers movie, but this is how make a live-action and make the mecha look exactly alike from the anime and manga!

+Primus Productions I think Michael Bay knows how to make a good action movie. This mess looks terrible.

+dussan2 Bay's stuff's recent stuff's all mega explosions, large scale destruction, & gross overuse of slow motion--all flamboyant sensory overload with next to no substance.

This looks awesome. I wish I could see this in American theaters.
Just watched and wanna do some review. So, if you liked Patlabor movies, GITS- Innocence or S.A.C 2nd Gig you will for sure like this one. At least I enjoyed the slow noir atmosphere, scenes composition, music, armed governmental forces and their conspiracies. Also performances from Toshia Kakei/ Reiko Takashima and Kasha/Haibara combo were spot on and I would definitelly enjoyed the movie even more if there were no mechas... I think director Oshii purposefully omitted scenes with the Patlabors until the very end because they don't blend well with the rest of the movie. And maybe he wanted to make some statement by emphasizing more on humans than robots. Maybe he wanted to say that machines are just machines, stop idolizing them... Anyway, there are some minor classic japanese schlapstic moments that are sometimes hard to watch but it's part of the franchise. Overall, I think this is the best live action movie by Oshii. Everything is nearly nailed... except the Patlabors. My score 7/10

Holy shit... I just found out this exists, and I am SO HAPPY. TTwTT
i still don't get it...why japan doesn't work together with US CGI company to raise the bar of the quality for the movie....japan always have good story and creative mind but all ended up in huge let down when they try to do everything by themselves....just look at pacific rim did the scene in japan compare to this....this movie budget looks just like a tv show....

Astroranagun It's all about 100% inhouse I'd guess

Because 90% of this aren't CGI the mechs are real but it takes time to make it.

+Astroranagun Becuz without a strong fan of the said source material like Del Toro at the helm, Americans will ALWAYS end up doing more harm than good with movies like these (just look at the last 3 transformers); & the likes of Del Toro are very, very, VERY hard to come by.
