Tony Au No offense but I think the right you are seeking for is not that necessary today. The biggest problem is how to make Hongkong go up again. The major issue ahead is the monopoly of real estate, etc. Think about it, if you guys develop this city in peace without these bad riots for several years, u will become the group who can reach the level to get these rights and improve those social problems in Hongkong. And if, in 2047, democracy makes Hongkong stable and prosperous again, Chinese government will definitely not do much interruption to Hongkong. How could a country want to change the system of its best city so badly at a price of its great achievements. After watching this, I went back to the basic law. Under article 45, the Chinese government did not promise universal suffrage. It is only an "aim" ...an aim is not a guarantee and does not need to be met. Even so, under article 158... the law is under the interpretation of the Chinese government (PRC) … therefore, what they are fighting for doesnt have much ground. All you can say is that protesters misinterpreted the law. Currently being in HK, what Mr Yeung is saying is false. They are not only asking for 2 things. The protest is asking for 5 demands.

Ren Lu As far as I know, only the Cultural Revolution is a conflict between young people and the masses, and China has already acknowledged that mistake. A All Chinese people know that it is wrong because the Chinese government does not intend to cover up history and call it the right one. As for the 5.4 Movement, it was because of the failure of China at the Paris Peace Conference and the signing of an unequal treaty with Japan. The 5.4 Movement will not attack civilians. Comparing the 5.4 Movement with the dogs that attack ordinary people in Hong Kong is simply an insult to everyone's IQ.

Ren Lu You said that the Chinese government attacked ordinary people in Hong Kong? Hahahaha Chinese government even don't send the People's Liberation Army. Now there isn't a video on the whole network about the Chinese government's do something in Hong Kong. Are you dreaming here or are you thinking about it? The two people one is Chinese tourist and one reporter from the Global Times. They are only beated for one reason, that is, they are mainland Chinese and they are not in line with those protesters. If this is called the reason for their being beaten, then I am ashamed of Hong Kong’s so-called democracy. If they are beaten because they are spies (unfortunately there is no evidence, but they think) then this is the law enforcement department’s job, those protesters have no law enforcement power to deal with privately, and you support this kind of behavior, which is a shame for you. If you are Chinese, shame for you. If you are not Chinese, I suggest you shut up because you have no rights. And get out from my comments.

this is a very ignorant question. The British never gave HK universal suffrage because China didn't allow it. This is unveiled in recent's The National Archives in UK. British freed every colonies' autonomy during 1st or 2nd world war because it was costly for them to fully monitor all colonies, but only HK was an exception. China's former premier, Mr. 周恩來 warned China would take over HK immediately if British was to give HK universal suffrage in the fear that China would be affected. This is the fact.

These two person make a mistake, "One country two system" is not prepare for HK, it was prepare for taiwan. Chinese government want to show it to taiwan by saying they both can be one country. If HK doesn't show successful it became better, instead it became worse. Then HK is useless. Beijing can replace HK anytime if they see HK is failure.
