Throughout this show I Am Singer Season 1, there were 13 episodes and many songs being competed. But Wandering is one of the song that got Top 2 in the Chinese music chart and Top 1 was also by Aska Yang, he sang this 3rd song title 空白格 (Kong Bai Ge) means Blank Space. This 3rd song was a comeback stage to bid farewell given to those singer who been eliminated.

Thank you for reacting to this song. This song is the most touching song throughout the I Am Singer Season 1. Aska Yang got kicked out much earlier after he only sang 2 songs. The Chinese audiences in the show on the live stage as you can see them around 500. They mainly voted for their Chinese singers back then. Aska Yang is a Taiwanese hence he did not have many audiences voted for him although he was the greatest among others. Then when this show was aired in China Television and also in KZbin where many overseas Chinese audiences were watching this show, many have written in to complain to the Director of this show. Hence, the director had discussed with the original show producer in South Korea to make exemption to have a second chance given to those singers who had been eliminated too early. Therefore, Aska Yang had come back to compete with other eliminated singers for A Come Back Competition where only one singer can enrolled into the semi final and final. Aska Yang sang this Wandering as his 1st song and he got 1st place for this song. He then sang 2nd song called 馋 (Chan) a song from his 2nd Album that carried the title as "Greedy". This is a song especially made by his respected teacher in Chinese music industry Jonathan Lee. This is a fun and funky song. You should listen and reacted to this song too. 空白格 （Kong Bai Ge）means Blank Space. This was the 3rd song sang by Aska Yang after the elimination that he came back to bid farewell from this stage. This song became Top 1 in the Chinese music chart beating all other songs sang by other singers in I Am Singer Season 1. This sad song had also become the OST of a Chinese Love Story Movie (But Always) in 2014 one year after this singing show. Hence this song had gained much popularity in Chinese music industry. Although Aska Yang was not the original singer of this sad love song but he won the heart of the audiences and listeners. Would I surprise you by revealing that Chinese people seek emotion above all else in singers. And here we are dealing with a champion in this field. Even Yao Bei Na didn't make the audience shed as many tears as he did. Even if, in my opinion, the voice is more important (because it is the specific element of singing - the words are also in poetry, the movements in dance and the emotion in theater, but the voice is only in singing), despite this a singer without emotion can be a good singer but is not an artist. BTW, he was a finalist but didn't win. Of course, that doesn't mean anything when we think that Shang Wenjie had been eliminated (she is also eliminated this sixth episode of Singer 2024... so, we won't see her again).

Aska Yang only won the 3rd place coz in the final he chose 2 songs not really can portray his emotion or good quality of voice. I didn't know why he chose those 2 songs. Anyway, he is always a champion in my heart. He really touched my heart with his voice.

In response to your 1st sentence, I heard from the elders that the Chinese music industries seek rare voices first, & as the word 'rare' implies, it's not common. In the seventies when the Chinese music industry in Taiwan was booming (unlike China which at that time was still in the cultural revolution), Taiwanese singer/actor Liu Wen-cheng & Taiwanese politician Yu Tian who sang in mandarin & hokkien were 2 most well-known Chinese male singers. I was told that Liu had a rare singing voice & he commanded NT$240K for each appearance which was not a small sum in those days. Liu surprised the industry when he decided to stop performing about 4 decades ago to groom young talents & he retired abroad about 3 decades ago.
