It would have expected from someone who is said to be an expert on India to use the terms "Hindu" and "Hindi" correctly. The speaker confused the two, so let us set this straight: "Hindi" is a language, written in Devanagari alphabet, very close to Urdu which is written in modified Arabic alphabet. A "Hindu" is a follower of Sanatana Dharma. And no, the Hindus don't believe in אלף אלילים (a thousand idols). At the core of Sanatana Dharma lies the concept of Paramatman, an all-encompassing universal divine. Lastly, President Modi has dedicated his life to the betterment of India and done amazing work for India. He deserves praise.
