Jesus was hungry and saw a fig tree in the distance. He approached the tree, expecting to find some fruit, but found only leaves. Since it was not the season for figs, Jesus cursed the tree, saying, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." (Mark 11:14)
The next day, the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered and died.
This story is often seen as a symbolic act, where Jesus was teaching his disciples about the importance of bearing spiritual fruit. The fig tree, which appeared healthy and thriving on the outside but was actually barren and unfruitful, represents the spiritual state of many people.
Jesus' curse on the fig tree serves as a warning to those who appear to be spiritually alive but are actually devoid of true faith and spiritual fruit.
