After watching this video TWICE, I feel that the owner neglected two things and that was the key reason why she was not able to establish a strong, trusting relationship with her Border Collie. 1. She never paid attention to what her Border Collie liked and disliked. She tried to pat her dog on the back and ask how it liked the food, how it was doing, etc. She thought she was showing love for her dog, but never noticed that her dog didn't like that at all. Border Collies are known for their intelligence. They are very good at reading their owner"s body language and anticipating what their owner wants. A lot of the time, Border Collies even act before the owner says anything. This owner's behavior likely made the Border Collie feel that she was being condescending - or even intrusive - rather than loving - and the Border Collie hates that. 2. The owner walked the Border Collie four times a day, and the family tried to play game with the dog as well. However, they never did anything that would've mentally stimulated the Border Collie. No wonder why the Border Collie would feel bored. When a smart furry kid felt bored, that meant trouble and misbehaviors. Besides being smart, Border Collies are also known workaholics. The owner in this video could have given their Border Collie tasks such as telling it to carry the empty laundry basket to the dryer or putting away its toys after play time. They could even try to teach the Border Collie simple math and vocabulary. All those activities could have kept the Border Collie mentally stimulated, built trust between the owner and the Border Collie, and therefore prevented misbehaviors.
