The only time I use cement on Bandai kit is when I’m putting two halves of a beam rifle together and I want to get rid of the seam lines. Everything else pretty much fit together nicely without glue.

!!!This is so cool. The Y-Wing is my favourite Star Wars ship. This model looks so much better than the toys. You detailng is excellent and is really inspiring to see what can be done with some effort and talent.

In my opinion, one of the most satisfying parts of a lot of Star Wars kits is how free you can be with the weathering; many of the ships/vehicles look banged and beat up, dirty and grimy. It really gives you a lot of freedom to just have fun and not worry about any sort of comparison. Even though the Y Wing is one of my least favorite ships, I still love all the detail on the kit; when I first heard the contract for these kits was going to Bandai, I wasn't sure if I'd like them but the amount of detail and how well the pieces fit has made me a big fan.

Very well done! Only things would suggest to consider to make it pop more would be to detail the Astromech droid (give it a color like blue or green to offset the grey/yellow of the ship), and to do some detail on the pilot's helmet. Also a subtle drybrush highlight on certain areas of the pilot's flight suit would help to. Otherwise it is a solid, nicely done build and paint.

You make such things so easy... can I ask you how you thinned the white base over the black coat of primer. I tend to use the same technique to render nightly fighters before main black coat but result is not satisfying to me
