Average salary isn't a lot, around $2k for normal people, which equals to around 4.5万 台币. But the living expenses here is more expensive, so it's actually not slot, in fact barely surviving if only 1person working in the family. There is a ban on importing chewing gum into Singapore. Since 2004, only chewing gum of therapeutic value is allowed into Singapore under the "Regulation of Imports and Exports (Chewing Gum) Regulations". The exception is made for dental or nicotine gum. Gum can be bought from a doctor, but must be prescribed. Copied and pasted directly from government side. You can mislead people and I can’t ? What a hypocrite

That was for importing but there is no law to say that you cannot consume chewing gums. We used to have loads of issues cleaning up the gums that people stick around in 1990 to 2000s. Special chemical and labour need to be deployed to clean those up. Thereafter, a ban to import and sell the gums that sticks stubbornly. However, there is no law to stop you from consuming them, I still chew them on a regular basis and dispose them correctly. Please don’t let this video of some so call Singaporean misled the rest. For sure, if this is illegal, I would know too since I studied law as well.

Summer Gal actually there is alot of law in Singapore like if you don't flush, you will get fine. But since there isn't any big issues yet, the police won't allocate manpower for that. I think it is the same for bubble gum. They will not allocate manpower to like catch you for having chewing gums yet. But it should be true that there is still this rule that we cannot have the chewing gum.

What I dislike about such entertainment programs is the denigration of other cultures and habits which they don’t understand. Uniformity breeds mediocrity. Each country has its own unique idiosyncrasies and mocking at another just comes across as childish. I love Taiwan but will avoid such talkshows. Singapore is a multi-racial society with words adopted from various cultures. A homogeneous society should learn to accept differences and stop being myopic.
