One of the reason why employer are willing to hire employee 55yrs and above is because Singapore government will rebate certain percentage of the salary under Senior Worker Support Package. Also government provide support for low income with monthly additional cash and CPF top up under Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) scheme.

This probably come from taxes? Btw, I wonder if every Singaporean can have his own house?
The reason CPF is sustainable is because it is a defined contribution and NOT defined benefits scheme. So far, all over the world, defined benefits scheme have rarely been successful.
I can't thk God enough for our wise Singapore government. Without the so-called "forced" saving. How many people do u think will actually be able to save that same amount bec of they own discipline or cleverness? Once upon a time when i was 17, i remembered a 50 year old colleague telling me the horror stories of many who at 55 then (1970s) draw all their CPF and splurged on holidays, dinning. big TV, new house renovation etc etc like no tomorrow. Our govt also learnt from this, so now at 55, we can only draw whatever is above the saved amt. This is so from 65 onwards, every month we get our allowance (our own money). Will not become a liability due to mindless spending at 55.
