Hi. Just wanted to know the usefulness of PED during a recession. YED is very clear but i am unsure regarding what i Should write in relation to the usefulness of PED during a recession

Since incomes are likely to be low during a recessions if price rises then demand is likely to fall by a much larger amount (so price elastic in recession) since it takes up a large percentage of someone's income. This is in his PED video where % of income is a determinant of PED.

The t stands for time period, in the long run goods and services are more price elastic as more substitutes become available in the market.

@@adamali6288 the "time" part is correct, but the reason PES becomes more elastic in the long run is because all factors of production become variable for firms...
