@@iranthenews OMG where do I start!? So it's basically about this badass half siren pirate captain who is the saighter of the feared and ruthless pirate king. He is after the map to where the siren island of unimaginable wealth. But the thing is, it's split between the three pirate lords. So they hatch a plan for her to go on the ship of one of the pirate lords, purposefully becoming a hostage so she can look for the map. And omg then there is a steamy, enemies to lovers between her and the first mate, who is also her interrogator. The back and forth banter is hilarious. And when I say she is badass, I mean she is badass. She can fight better that any man, and has siren abilities. Plz read. I would give anything to read it for the first time again. It's also quick!

For crime, my suggestions are: A Good Liar by Amanda Brooke, When She Was Good by Michael Robotham, Left Fur Dead (and the two following books in the trilogy) by J.M. Griffin, The Dan Brown series, The Locked Attic by B.P. Walter, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, and Eight Detectives by Alex Pavesi. For fantasy, my suggestions are: The Percy Jackson books, The Shadows Between Us by Ericia Levenseller, His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman, The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness, and Time's Convert by Deborah Harkness. For romance, my suggestions are: the Heartstopper series (if you like picture novels), Love Frankie by Jacqueline Wilson, They Both Die at the End (which I never really liked but I know a lot of people that did enjoy it), and The Secret Life of Lucy Lovecake by Pippa James. The His Dark Materials series also has romance in it. And for those little random ones that would be by themselves in a category, I suggest: Moonology by Yasmin Boland (nonfiction), An Immense World by Ed Yong (nonfiction), IT by Stephan King (horror), and Anne of Green Gables (historical fiction). A good tip for cheap books is buying them in Tesco. The books in Tesco tend to be really random but amazing (they also sell popular books too), but they are much cheaper than in a bookstore.

Ok imma be honest with y’all, Colleen Hoover is not really a YA author. Even though there are kids who read her books (like me), it’s definitely not something I would categorize as a YA novel, maybe an adult novel. I love her books don’t get me wrong but she tends to write some pretty uhh… graphic scenes. But I would suggest it to a mature or rather older teen/ pre-teen who is ok with the amount of content warnings in her books. NO HATE I LOVE HER BOOKS JUST WOULDN’T PUT HER AS A YA NOVELIST. 😭

I might be nearing 21 but YA books are still my jam. I recommend the books by Sarah Dessen. I know she wasn’t on the list but she’s special to me. Her books introduced me to the romance genre. The romance is realistic and amazing, always revolving around summer love (from what I’ve read). The books are wholesome but also tackle very tough subjects like death and trauma in an impactful way. In Literature (at the very least but also maybe tv & movies according to a screenwriter friend) YA encompasses all *young* adult content, which includes the new label that has become big recently: New Adult. This includes books with protagonists and main characters 18-30 dealing with the coming of age stories of those ages: college, first job/early career, living on your own for the first time, etc. A good portion of these books (since they are written for and marketed towards the +18 crowd) include more mature themes including, but not limited to, more explicit sexual content. But since these books handle *young* adults and coming of age stories, things regular(?) adults don't want to read I guess??? They are marketed as YA. And are then put in the same section of the bookstore & libraries as the YA books meant for teens (the age where the term young adult means "almost an adult") that, by industry standards for books marketed for under 18, can't have more than 5 (some arbitrary low number) curse words & have fade to black sex scenes.
