Anime didn't mention this but having a classmate expelled will cost -300 class points and by saving the classmate requires 20 million private points. Even though Manabu bought Tachibana back with 20m they still suffered from -300 class points.

The Koenji scenes gives us insight into his character like it feels like he comes from a strict background and will have work to meet his family's expectations after finishing high school. This may be the most freetime he is going to get, so he has to do whatever he can to avoid expulsion.

In the light novel, I remember that the student council also decides on the content of the exams as long as they get the school's approval to implement it. So Nagumo specifically made this exact situation of getting both a group's leader and another person expelled by majority vote.

I'm probably reading a bit into it... but I feel like Koenji gathers intel in very abstract ways, he purposely picked up the boar which would seemingly put him in a physical disadvantage so that if one was to attempt to stop him with the slightest touch, he'd know what they are more or less capable of... I kept going back to it and I couldn't shake the feeling that this moment was almost pre-ordained ( Ayanokoji could've slipt up but I think in reality it was a way to get intel as well... He hold's on to him feigning intent to physically stop him but it'd be enough to know... whether or not an entire boar would close the gap in their strength which he determines, through thought, that does not suffice.... granted he could also be lying about that too so Koenji would perceive him as weaker as he let's go of him... then again he did end up saying it officially through his thoughts instead of by word of mouth to koenji ) but it's something to ponder over at least....I swear there are so many layers to this small interaction which makes me want to go back and watch more Koenji scenes and make sense of it

this is just a reminder, if im not mistaken if a group was below the borderline, the leader and a person selected by that leader, were going to be expelled. In theory, if there is no dirty play involved it doesnt seem that unfair tbh. Plus the leader i believe was selected by majority decision. Tachibana and the girl beside nagumo were on the same group, in this case ppl needs to remind the dynamics of the show there are 4 classes, A B C D. Every class "fights" to become class A, when youre in the 3rd year, theres no room to relax, since its your final chance. Im guessing (cuz i dont remember) nagumo used either private points or a reason to enact revenge on horikita (class a) on girls from the 3rd year in luring them to expel tachibana (ex-studen council secretary).

At 3:33 I don’t know if all three of you caught into it, but Koenji knows that Ayanokoji is the one who beat Ryuen just by his grip and that he’s more than meets the eye. That’s why Koenji said that he won’t expose his identity to others. And we all know that no one in the series knows Ayanokoji’s abilities and actions other than a handful of people. Koenji knowing that says a lot about him. I think that little thing is very important for all of you to know, not just as reactors, but as someone who is watching this anime.

Everybody had to run a specific amount of distance at least, Koenji only did the bare minimum so the other runners of the group had to take on more load. Yukimura only had to take on the minimum as well.

I hate how they portray Ayanokoji in the Anime, they make him look so cold (he is but not like in the anime), and they skip all the sweet parts about him. In the novel, he just wants to be a normal student, he appreciates a lot his friends and think a lot more about Karuizawa
