Theres an extra in the manga where Senshi is writing in his journal about how he feels bad about calling Marcille fussy. Now that hes an elf, he feels like everyone is treating his advice and words of wisdom as condescending instead of fatherly advice. He recognizes that he thought Marcille was self absorbed as an elf, but now as a half foot he views her "fussiness" completely differently.

you guys really are some of the best reactors. you notice lots of stuff that other reactors don't. most people didn't catch on that senshi really is just acting as he usually does, it just comes off differently because he's now an elf. it won't say it in the anime but in senshi's diary he mentions that the others were teasing him for being more elflike but he didn't think he was acting any differently. that he wanted to call them out on it but he realized that he also had said and thought similar things about marcille in the past and said he would never say or think those things again.

Senshi is always considered feminine by other dwarves, he is reserved and takes a nurturing role, he doesn’t like heavy weapons and money, which is less usual for men in dwarven culture in DM, plus being a bad miner in general. His current mannerisms are just… normal, in character for him. People just neglected these traits because of his muscles and beard. So glad that you guys caught on that he's just being our beloved Senshi, no matter the shape of his ears!

@mila2394 yeah, about that. I guess tall men have the most stereotypical idea of feminine image. But Namari and Daya both come from peculiar backgrounds, Namari is trying to pay the debts of her father and she grew up in an environment full of weapons, Daya’s family was the Guardian of the dungeon, so she was destined to live an abnormal life. I mainly got this conclusion of their gender role is the fact that the gender bent version of Senshi is able to thrive in the role of “dungeon mama” and had a much better thriving life as a dwarf, and how most dwarves we saw who were mining and fighting seem to be men except for the two you mentioned. Also, the ideal image of a woman is very soft looking with a lot of fat. But dwarfs don’t like to group together, so it’s natural that the tall man’s idea of family role isn’t ingrained too deeply in them.

What we DO know, is the fact that they look down on the people who cannot fight or mine, again if we base our assumptions on the idea that they don’t have a specific binary role. It is still a hyper masculine society. It doesn’t matter if he’s a man or woman, Senshi is a relatively feminine character compared to Namari and Daya.

@mila2394 there is a concept of femininity in dwarven culture in dunmeshi lol. daya's story was about how she escaped a life forced upon her being the daughter of a line of dungeon guardians and in an arranged marriage. that's a very clear allegory for what women in some cultures go through in real life

If you remember way back in episode 7 or so with the sirens, Chilchuck got charmed and Laios didn't because they were too far away for Laios to hear. Also while last episode was the first time it SAID that dwarves commonly gets sick from teleportation magic every single time a dwarf was teleported somewhere previously they were visibly affected by it. This story does a lot more showing than telling.

I love how the Changelings are mushrooms in this series because in the actual European myth of a Changeling is a human-like creature that various supernatural creatures like fairies who would replace children that they kidnapped with it & a Fairy Ring which are fungi grown in a circle which are believed to where fairies dwell or the site of Witches dancing on Walpurgis Night, so it’s very clever combing them making transforming mushroom (classic trope) which the manga artist Ryōko Kui recreated the first chapter with them in their new forms (the red dragon is replaced with Falin & added Izutsumi) for Ch. 50 while also made a cover for Ch. 51 showing how each of the party member would look like if they were either a Tall-Man (Human), Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, or Gnome

The saddest part is that actually happened irl, not only did they burned but they also left the babies in the forest hoping that the fae would change them back. It's very likely that those children were born with deformities and the parents just couldn't accept those were their actual kids

@@yamigoya8291 Sometimes I wonder whether this was also the reaction when children started showing signs of extreme neurodivergence as they grew, like low functioning/nonverbal autism. We didn't have explanations for why some kids would just act so differently to everyone else then, so the idea that this wasn't a human child probably seemed reasonable to them

Since Senshi is my favorite character out of this series I love his backstory, so here are some info on his fellow miner dwarves: - Gillin their leader died at the age of 79 (born on June 16th), height 135 cm / 4’5”, favorite food is cream cake while least is onions, & is voiced by Wataru Takagi while Eng dub is Jason Marnocha - Brigan died at the age of 78 (born on Feb. 19th), height 145cm / 4’9”, favorite food is smoked meat while least is cheese, & is voiced by Shunichi Maki while Eng dub is John Eric Bentley - Invar died at the age of 58 (born on Feb. 14th), height 145cm / 4’9”, favorite food is smoked oysters while least is porridge, & is voiced by Michitake Kikuchi while Eng dub Mick Lauer - Totan was the group’s accountant who died at the age of 95 (born on May 11th), height 130 cm / 4’3”, favorite food is carbohydrates while least is eggplants & mung beans, & is voiced by Takehiro Hasu while Eng dub is Todd Haberkorn - Noor died at the age of 98 years old (born on October 1st), height 125 cm / 4’1”, favorite food is duck while least is seafood, & is voiced by Hironori Miyata while Eng dub is Frank Todaro - Their horse they had was named Anne which is the same name that Senshi named the Kelpie

They cut out some scenes form the manga like: - Where after exchanging clothes Izutsumi cracked a joke about Chilchuck won’t be treated as a kid but he didn’t hear it due to him noticing his new height while she notes that his hearing isn’t as good & Senshi says he is calmer - Then Laois asked Chilchuck how did people from his homeland cure the transformations which he informs that there were many terrible folk remedies like burning them with fire or making them drink an entire bucket of water, then Laois concluded they have to find more mushrooms, but this gets him thinking what other forms he would turn into (a Kolbod, an Orc, & even a monstrous Troll) - Before finding the door after walking for a bit getting through various obstacles (which we see) making them think that they have adopted to their new forms which reminds Chilchuck how each annoys him that is until they saw a winged lion statue head at an entrance leading them to the door

there are many hybrid horse like monsters but one intereting one is a creature called perytons. from pathfinder rpg they have hawk/eagle wings, body, legs and antlers like deers but the head itself is a wolf. these are moe vicious since they can actually speak primitively and have abilties to alter your shadow to scare you making easier to surprise attack. to add in how scary: imagine they exist irl where your out in the wood, see clopping from distane and see stag horns above the push. all suddenly hear very creepy whisperings to come over or look elsewhere, next thing you know it comes out of the push, glowing yellow eyes with head of a wold baring its teeth while still talking to you. that moment you would go @#$! no and run as fast as you can.

That was the subversion the show wanted us to fall for. It's only through the ingenuity of Laios that we learned what actually happened to the Dwarves, that they did indeed get killed by a winged beast, just a hippogriff instead of a griffon. It's similar to the situation with the living armor, where everyone thought it's armor being controlled by a powerful sorcerer, but Laios found out that it's a colony of mollusks instead.
