I live in Exmouth. Lovely place to live and definitely worth a visit when you're down here next. Coastguard have approximately 165 remote antennas/masts around the country which can be activated/operated from any Coastguard Rescue centre in the country. The mast at the old CG station in Brixham is still operational as one of the main antennas for the Torbay/Lyme bay area and is used by both Solent and Falmouth coastguard

Really nice video Lewis! Since I cannot travel outside of 5km from home for the foreseeable future, it is great to be able to see such nice places through someone else's lens. Very picturesque towns. Hope you enjoyed the break. And steam trains are just awesome!

Nice to see the Queen Mary 2 in your video. My wife and I cruised in winter 2003 on the the QM 2, from New York City to the Caribbean. Shame the cruise industry is down now due to the virus. Nice views of the coast and the lovely scenery there. Glad you had a nice Holiday there. When I was last in the UK we did not get to that area. When I lived in the New York City area, I used to hear the Marine Channels around there. Years ago there was the Marine Operator talking to ships and boats making phone calls to land before cell phones developed Your train ride was nice too. I enjoy trains, and riding on them. In 1980 went up to the top of MT. Washington, over 6000 feet to the peak, on the old steam train, called the Cog Railway. Cheers, Ray W2CH.

Great video Lewis. I’m a regular visitor to Brixham, three or four times a year so I’m very envious that you’re down there at the moment. Hope you’ve had a good break in these unusual times. Isle of Portland is line of site as well for 2m

Nice video, the french station you heard on vhf channel 79 was Gris-Nez traffic who control shipping movements along the french coast in the Dover straits - not bad distance wise 😉

If you allow, I have a question and I hope to answer it, what is the best portofoon analog? Knowing that I want it to open all channels, hear from it and from which you can respond?

Hi I question does is easy to pair those two radios to communicate between each other without repeater ?

Yes of course
@piterex74 жыл бұрын
@@RingwayManchester Could you please tell me the range in city and open fields without repiter ?
@cameronharris-aldred95944 жыл бұрын
@@piterex7 it depends on many variables, inner city without repeater most likely would not be great if you can receive the other person at all. Open field, unsure of your exact definition of that but if you mean in a field and you can see the other person then I doubt there would be any interference, however if you mean across country then it will depend on how far they are as curvature of the earth may be an issue or if there are hills in the way then you may have interference if you can receive them at all. Hope that helps

@@piterex7 Are you licensed? as these are questions that someone who wasn't licensed would be asking.

@@GrahamTruman you absolutely right but is not illegal to own (maybe in America)as they can have as many guns they want but not radio without license

I had a brief visit to that area last week and stopped in Torquay harbour for an hour for a coffee. If I'd have known I may well have come along to annoy you for a while but then I suppose that's why you don't announce your movements!

I picked up an FT-60 a while back. Pity they went out of production as they are a cracking radio. That said the FT-4X is proving very popular, and is a good price. Despite making several counterpoises, during a club build evening, I’ve yet to actually use one. You are welcome to one if you want to give it a go someday.
