About 12-15 years ago I bought the FT-847 as second rig... I had a big surprise with the DSP and configuration for personalize preferences; the built in DSP is totally AWESOME also the reception (better, of course with external speaker).Also digital noch, and Noise Reduction that , i repeat: AWESOME. further, i decided buy and install the INRAD wire-in filter item #702 2100 Hz 455 kHz SSB 8-pole crystal filter and the results was much better that expected. This little bas..trd beats many last generation and very expensive HF rigs, but also covers 6m, vhf, uhf and full-duplex. I was really surprised with this transceiver. The bad: 1/ Little built in speaker and not good BF design in volume control, but i have an external speaker that solve this, also a little easy mod is in internet. 2/ The size: I have XL-XXL hands and I was happy with a larger size. Great little transceiver! totally configurable for your preferences. The bomb: Install the INRAD 455 khz 2100hz bandwith. Also i have 250hz CW filter installed ;-) This transceiver is really undervalued. 73 DX EA5OM Pepe
