I like the larger screen of the ft 2 I have had no problem with touch screen I had an ft 1 first vfo on the top larger and easier the ft 2 both good radios

Great review! I actually swapped an FT2 for an FT1XD (the upgraded version with improved GPS). I prefer the keypad over touchscreen for faster APRS messaging. BTW, the FT2 and FT3 have resistive touchscreen. Great find for 100 GBP. It's mostly more expensive now, especially in Japan.

Compared to FT2 (and FT3), it's the battery life that's the biggest negative of the FT1. It also does not have C4FM on the B Band (FT2 and FT3 can dual receive and can transmit C4FM on both bands). GPS is faster on the FT1XD compared to FT2. Audio quality is also better on FT1.

I’ve had mine and I’ve barely scratched the surface of its functionality. Only thing I can’t figure out it why it seems like it falls back into digital mode by itself when I am pretty sure i generally have it in AMS. I caught myself scanning my memory spots but can’t hear anybody...

I love the radio, but have you tested the power out on 2m? I have tried it 20 ways and never get more than about 3.5w out and it should be 5w? I get 5w on 440 but never on 2m. Puzzling...

So I have not wires x. Am I using a Hotspot on yaesu ft1xd? How to add a hotspot on a yaesu ft 1xd

You can use wires x direct on hotspot you have to use YSF reflectors 🙏 same rooms you end up in just a different way there... Thanks for watching buddy 🙏

@ no not at all buddy. Basically wires x is locked down by yaesu so only yaesu equipment can access the wires x network directly. When you use a hotspot you can still get into wires x just the same but you are going through reflectors that people have created, you still end up in the same rooms but I won't say America link on your ft1d it will say ysf0025 just for an example. But your still chatting on America link just getting there in a slightly different way 🙏 hope that helps bud 😁
