YAESU FTM-150 Volume down Won't mute speaker

My FTM-500 does this too which I really dislike. I came from an FT-8800R and the volume would completely mute when lowered. So I don't think it's a unit particular issue but just how things are with the newer radios. It'd be great if a firmware update could "fix" it. For a dual receive radio it just makes sense to not get noise on a receiving channel when volume is all the way down.

Some what like the FTM-200. But 200 is way worse in digital mode. There’s no muting on the circuit at all. Which is sad for a $400 radio
