I have the FT-70 radio, and it cannot maintain battery power when unused. This makes the radio useless as a backup radio and grab and go emergency radio. It sits on the shelf.

Absolutely agree, I have yaesu vx8, and the battery is drained while it is off for about a few months! But when I removed the battery, it last years

The Yaesu VX-6R does not have dual receive as the video states it has a single reviewer nor can it do cross band repeat. As for as the FT 70D in reference to digital modes. There is Yaesu C4FM , D-Star that Icom and Kenwood uses and DMR that Anytone, Alinco and a few other Chinese manufacturer's use. And non of these digital modes are compatible with each other. So you have to research what digital mode is popular in your area before purchasing any digital mode radio. There is no radio made that will do all three digital modes. So depending on what brand of radio you purchase you would be limited to the digital mode that radio supports. There are Hot Spots that can give you the ability to cross mode these digital modes via VOIP. This video is very misleading and not very accurate!!

I didn't hear the video state that it could operate as a cross band repeater but maybe I missed it.

I own FT-70D and VX-7R. Both good handhelds that I highly recommend. But I wouldn’t rely on the information in this video, it’s more sales pitch than technical review.

The VX6 has a facility which nobody mentions as it's illegal. If it's been modded you'll find it can not only receive the Civil Airband, but transmit on the band too, am or fm. It can receive all military frequencies including the the military air band, but doesn't transmit on them.

The ft70d is a great radio but the battery life is disgraceful!! Come on yaesu,for all tht money its poor. A 1995 nokia lasts longer on a full charge. The VX6 is the better choice.

5:10 and 5:48 utilize no use yes. Utilize is not a fancy way to say use. When something is utilized, it is being used for other than what it was designed and intended for. Think a chair, its design is for folks to use it to sit upon, however it can be utilized as a step stool and other uses. English is a strange language, learn its correct usages.
