#1 theory is his best friend is a yandere, but not the one conducting the killings. The manipulation of the brakes were done by the girl who was with him, riding the motorcycle to lessen the protagonist's suspicion of her. If we assume this attack wasn't done by the yandere conducting the killings, then the only 'survivor' of the killings are, theoretically, the girl who was coerced into helping the killings years ago, and his best friend who literally survived the killing. This makes the best friend a lot more suspicious. The killings stopped before the protagonist met his best friend which, while a reach, could indicate that the murderer had no reason to keep killing once he met someone he loved again(aka the protagonist). When the protagonist met started using the dating site, he wasn't concerned because he knew the protagonist was considered creepy by the majority either way, so there wasn't a high chance he would find someone interested in him. It's also possible he contributed to his reputation as a creepy guy by anonymously spreading rumors about him so he would become more isolated, therefore making it easier to befriend the protagonist. A good point to note is the fact that the protagonist said it was hard to get a single match from so many cute girls he found and liked on the app, despite the fact that the girl on the motorcycle introduced herself as 'the girl you liked on the app', meaning he acknowledged the fact he saw him and he saw her on the app, while indirectly, yet did not pursue further action in any manner. The protagonist's best friend had a girl whom, beside the fact he mentioned he didn't know or was in contact with, had a means to contact and proof of recent contact with. It's possible that his best friend denied involvement with this girl because she was one of the yanderes personally interested in him, and like her, the reason the other girls on the app did not match or try to attempt further contact with him was because he'd anonymously contacted and blackmailed every girl within the university that was on the app, although this is just an imperfect guess, pretty much a reach. It's also possible there are multiple yanderes responsible for both past and current murders, considering the abundance of yanderes in that world

It's plausible. The cop did say it's not odd for a culprit to make themselves look like a victim. She left to change clothes and returned unharmed. I wonder if she sent a message to her accomplices. I see it being a group thing. She was likely in love with the teacher, but he wasn't fully on board or was involved with someone else. She took offense and started wiping out the competition. During this, she met a few other Yandere's and they begin working together. She and the others agreed to one of them taking the fall before moving on. Now, they found a guy who meets their interests and have to decided to isolate him and remove anyone who could interfere this time. Tsubasa is likely a catch-all identity for a group of Yandere's with a common interest in a single person.
