They did a similar thing at a hospital I work at in the UK last year. I remember being in the anaesthetic room with the young chap we were about to operate on, he was saying how he was sad that he didn't get to see them because he had to come down for his op. A couple of hours later after his op we took him back up to the children's ward, and the volunteers in their Star Wars uniforms had waited for him to come back so they could surprise him, he was so happy and I have so much respect for them for waiting for him :)

The 501st is still, to this day, probably the best example of "Fandoms can do great things". All over the world these men and women do events for absolutely nothing because it gives them a great excuse to dress up as a bad guy for a day while doing good. From concerts to visiting hospitals, if you ask these guys to come they will. They have divisions everywhere, even in my country of The Netherlands. I'm saving up for my own Stormtrooper costume so can join them one day. Respect to all of you soldiers! =salute=

My sister was on a ward at duke university medical center when she was diagnosed with an EXTREMELY rare gene mutation. When I was around 9 my family started going to the hospital to get blood testing done. After a while I was the only one getting tested. When I turned maybe 11 I was selected for a stem cell transplant with my sister because I was the best match. We couldn’t do a bone marrow transplant because I was only eleven. I was small for my age. Eventually after the transplant my sister had a good luck streak that kept going for a while and sometimes it would drop and sometimes it would go up but eventually it got really high. But it became a bubble and popped and my sister couldn’t recover. My family had to make a hard decision, we pulled the plug. When I got the news I was devastated I kept yelling “No no no take me to the room thing and do the transplant!” Well I couldn’t and I eventually came to terms. I just hate having to go through that. I mean NO ONE should EVER go through that. Not even Hitler... well maybe hitler.. But it was horrible. I hate how we as a people spend more time concerned about what Kim Kardashian’s up to instead of how to help these kids live. It’s sad. Not a day goes but where my sister Megan doesn’t cross my mind. Worse thing is all that effort I put in I had to go get shots all the time I had to have like 5 surgeries done on me. All for nothing.... Atleast she’s In heaven. And yes there is a heaven. Edit: What these people are doing is great. Keep up the good work.

As a proud member of the 501st Legion, I can honestly say it is an honor to be a part of such a wonderful group of people. I have done troops similar to the hospital ones where we do a sendoff or reveal for a Make A Wish recipient. It can get very difficult as a face character (meaning an officer, Jedi, etc). As a father of 3 I wouldn't wish what's happening to these kids on anybody. The honor comes in being able to make a difference in someone's life, even if it's for a minute. I think we're all forgetting that the younglings were powerful creatures in the force, brainwashed from birth to hate everything that our glorious empire stands for. The killings were merciful and quick, and ultimately necessary. Just one of the things the Empire will do to ensure that we all sleep peacefully at night.
