Great kit. Little pro tip for silicone. When you first clamp everything down and the silicone squishes out, or if you apply it afterwards around the outer edge. Spray the area with soapy water before wiping it, and you’ll be able to trowel it to perfection with your finger and it won’t smear or stick to anything it wasn’t touching before you sprayed it down.

www.amazon.com/Hydra-Concepts-Waterproof-Clamshell-Fitting/dp/B07ZPV996Q This is the one I ordered. You can select one or two wires for a single clamshell, (probably go with two in order to run power and data if you are running a similar set up).

Thanks for the video however no need to use that much silicone if any at all...if it becomes a problem that water is leaking in around the fitting you have already took a dump and the thimble amount of water won’t hurt...just my two cents

I believe the silicone is more crucial if you’re installing a port on a part of the kayak that is continually submerged, but I went ahead and did it just to follow the steps. I agree that not much water at all would get in if it’s getting splashed or even flipped over, as I have recently done.

How is it holding up?

I’ve had no issues with the yak attack thru hull ports. I wouldn’t recommend the hydra concepts. I actually pulled all of this out the other day because I’m installing the Garmin on a new yak, and everything still appeared to be water tight. It will be interesting to see because I believe on this new install one of the ports will be at least partially submerged most of the time.

Keep making videos!! Not sure what mic you are using, but it sounds a little off to me. Make a follow up video in a few months, great channel name. Not trying to be rude about the mic just friendly advice.

Thanks for the feedback, it’s the in camera mic on a sony a5000 so it’s not great with wind or ambient noise in general. I’m hoping to upgrade cameras soon though so I can use the rode micro I use with my GoPro, which is a big upgrade in audio quality (I use it in my video titled late fall finesse fishing). Slowly but surely!
