The music obviously deserves B tier at the very least. I don't understand how he couldn't enjoy tunes like Misty Lake or that end song With Me. Also The story is among the greatest Sonic game stories ever told if not THE BEST. But the controls are the worst thing about the game; however, it is without a doubt an incredible step up compared to the controls in Secret Rings. I genuinely feel like I just watched a legitimate, full-fledged tv documentary. The editing is top notch, and the commentary and comedic timing is amazing. The dedication to not only play and complete 13 GAMES in just a week, but doing so while ALSO cracking jokes and constantly changing camera angles is- all while barely holding your sanity together and likely damaging your eyesight- is, well, insane but also incredible and somehow inspiring. The mention of your childhood nostalgia for this series from beginning to end really tied this all together, and it really reinvigorated that feeling within me as well. This video alone was a journey in it of itself, but I can’t imagine to the full extent what your experience with this could’ve been like, and I likely never will in my lifetime (as I would like to remain at least relatively sane). It's that people are now excusing the metal system as it's a problem that fixes itself, as you play more, you start to know the best route to collect them. Frontiers is a wonderful breath of fresh air compared to the recent 10 years of sonic. I do feel like sega still has a fair bit to go in terms of polishing and flushing out the new formula to make it feel better. They have such an amazing foundation with frontiers that I think it will be hard for sega to screw up the next one (assuming they keep this formula). I can’t wait for some patches to frontiers for some bug fixes/general QoL improvements. They can turn it into a true masterpiece if they can fix the problems the game does have. The story though? Is about what you would expect from a sonic game haha. Gameplay is top tier though.

Sonic unleashed day levels are like speed runners dream. It's adrenaline pumping. Talking on a topic already spoken about to death probably: Boost being almost "too fast" in Unleashed is what makes it tied for the number one boost game in my eyes. It's a direct counterpoint to the whole "boost games mean you hold down the boost button and win" argument. If you just hold down the boost button in Unleashed, you're probably going to fall or die or both. There *are* straightaways between action where they expect you to hold boost as a way to catch your breath, but anywhere else, it's much more of a risk vs. reward type scenario, with your skill being put on the line in exchange for speed. You use it when you think you can handle having it, and let go when it's time for trickier platforming or more precise motions. If you learn the stages well enough, you can almost get away with never having to stop boosting, but getting to that point takes time and practice. Practicing the routes and trying to get that all-boost "perfect run" is what makes the daytime stages so addictingly fun to me. Games like Forces or Frontiers demonstrate what happens if there isn't any danger to using the boost. It not only feels a lot less powerful (with it feeling more like static "walking > running > boosting" states rather than the burst of speed followed by even more speed building of Generations or Unleashed), but when there's no risk, it just becomes a lot less fun to play with. Of course, not to dunk on Frontiers, which is still enjoyable in it's own right (completely dunking on Forces though), but I feel like a misunderstanding of what makes boost gameplay fun is why we don't get games that properly utilize it anymore. I completely agree with everything you said about the werehog stages though.

I moved to another country at 6 years old. Didn't have much, but because i was bored without nothing to do in a small town and used to play videogames before moving, my dad bought me a dreamcast. That came with like 7 or 8 demos. One of these demos was Sonic Adventure, it only let you play the first sonic level. I think I played it... 2000 times. One day my mom told me to play without sound please, because she was burned out of the music. 1 year later I bought the full game and I think that was the happiest moment of my life.
