I believe it's just a bunch of different artists that use the nijiura maids (2chan) as "mascots". I know some of them know eachother but I think most aren't related.

I can't speak for the musicians, but the maids come from internet characters that started on 2channel, 4chan's ancestor. I personally only know of Yakui because she was popular on 420chan. www.ostan-collections.net/wiki/index.php/Nijiura_and_Futaba_Characters#OS-tan_Based_Characters If I had to take a guess, each music style is supposed to reflect the personality of each maid. This track definitely reminds me of my own history of drug abuse.

Maidcore is a mix of lots of genres, and it can be used only for the maid musicians. Yakui, ozoi, yabai and yowai are friends irl. Yakui started maidcore years ago

It is a musical scene, not a genre per say. Musical scenes are an umbrella of several genres connected by a underlining aesthetic, like the maid characters while being mostly postrock with each maid adding their own spin. A few other examples include Lolicore or j-core, probably also found on osu.
