Devil Artsy maybe. But even if she can't remember Majima completely, she still believes that there was someone out there besides Kiryu and Sera who helped her. That's how she remembers Majima a little bit anyway. Though I wished that she could recognize him.

Makoto never clearly saw his true face before due to her blindness. The clearest she can see Majima before he changed his persona was when she slightly recovered from her blindness, although it was still blurry enough for her to unable to make out his facial details. Moreover, Majima never told his name at all in the first place. Just so you know, it's for the best. He doesn't want her to be dragged back into the Yakuza underworld ever again.

it sucks that we even have to speculate on his transition. Majima was normal even during the Makoto scene at the end and some time had obviously passed since he decided to "be free". Nishitani was more Majima than Majima was this whole game.. I actually thought he had something to do with Majima going all wild until he got shot to death.
@masterdisciple6542
@masterdisciple6542 7 жыл бұрын
I think the narrative makes it clear that Majima is NOT actually insane at all. It's a persona he created, partly to distance himself from his pain and partly to put fear onto everyone around him. Majima knows there is no way out of the Yakuza life for him, so he buries the past and adopts a gives-no-shits attitude. He's theatrical, he's eccentric, he's damaged and even a little crazy, but he's not the complete lunatic he pretends to be.
@SteelBallRun1890
@SteelBallRun1890 6 жыл бұрын
Even in 4 you can already see that. Whenever he's around Saejima, he's not acting like a crazy person, he's serious. I think they added that starting with 4 since you can't really have Majima's character keep showing up without depth and always just being the "loony character".
@MrAsaqe
@MrAsaqe 6 жыл бұрын
He was always the Nishikiyama to Saejima's Kiryu. And Saejima spent 25 Years in the Hole. Majima didn't get why Saejima would do such a thing, single handedly starting a war for the sake of his boss when he planned the hit that day. But now he understands exactly why he did it and he will get to the top his own way. The story is all about oath and promises and now he has found his way to uphold his promise to Saejima.

Majima isn't actually crazy. He created the mad dog persona to honor characters like Nishitani because they did whatever they want, they weren't dogs on leashes. Majima wanted to live his life like that, fun and in his own way. Majima was psychotic only in Yakuza 1, because they didn't know he was going to be so popular and Sega didn't know Yakuza would be a series.

"Sega didn't know Yakuza would be a series" This actually makes sense, of all the entries Yakuza 1 seems the most chaotic one with a lot important characters being killed in short amount of time and not to mention the fast story build up after Kiryu was released from prison, also please don't bully me imo the story in Yakuza 1 is the weakest as well (At least Kiwami fixed some aspects), you can see they were still experimenting.. I imagine they probably didn't plan for it to be long run franchise..

Segawa was from the Omi Alliance and his sworn brother was Shimano of the Tojo Clan. Both of them were making deals secretly and once Shimano was found out, he killed that one guy from the Omi to "clean" his hands of any rumors. Because of that, Segawa got offed by the Omi Alliance because it's his fault the other Omi Alliance guy got killed.

Actually no, Shimano shot him to prove to Sera that Shimano had nothing to do with Omi and the deceiving acts. Sagawa somewhat had to take responsibility for the death of the head of Omi Alliance, hence the murder.

Man, I thought Sagawa was a freaking dick throughout the whole game but damn.. his last convo with Majima got me all teary-eyed. The respect between the two of them after all they have been through is amazing. And that subtle ost only adds to the emotional value of this scene. Also the way Sagawa knew it was the end of the line for him makes this scene one of my favorites in Yakuza 0. In the end I feel like Majima had nothing left to lose after losing all the people he cared about (Sagawa, Makoto, Nishitani), so he created this Mad Dog persona to be able to turn the page and live on in his own way, without anyone telling him what to do. The character development for Majima in this game was sublime. I thought it was better than Kiryu's.

Gregory Smith I always found that kinda cool. At least in video game standards. I'm so used to western games like GTA that have great stories but death having little meaning. As killing is a common thing. In Yakuza when they started talking about murder (about 20 hours into my game) it took me a minute to realize I hadn't killed anybody so far. It took me aback and helped me take the story a bit more seriously.

I love how the eyes in this game seem to say so much. Whether its due to the realistic face models, or just the facial animations, or the amazing voice acting, each character has an established personality, and seems so real. In that final bar scene with Nishiki, Kiryu's eyes speak volumes without the need for any long-winded exposition. This game was a drag at times because of the difficult final boss fights, but the story is far and away one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It made me fall in love with the Ryu Ga Gotoku series.

FUCK! Anyone else imagined if that damn doctor hadn't arrived at that moment the two were gazing at each other? If Majima walked away, would Makoto have chased him, demand an apology, and maybe he had no choice but to speak, and then she'd recognize him, etc Goddammit ;_; that scene breaks my heart everytime...
@Bulzeeb15
@Bulzeeb15 7 жыл бұрын
It had to be this way. Majima knows Makoto had been through enough with the yakuza and how it nearly killed her. Since he's back in the game, Majima couldn't stay around her lest she get involved again. I have to wonder if his radical change in his looks was also partially done to make sure Makoto wouldn't recognize him in even the slightest bit, thus keeping her safe from reconnecting to the yakuza underworld through Majima. It's a bittersweet ending to their relationship.

God, I just come back to this video every once in awhile because it really is just breathtaking how good the ending is for every character here. I played Yakuza 0 first, so I didn't really appreciate this ending as much on my first play through, but after playing the rest of the games, this ending is just so special. I don't think I will ever be able to experience such a beautiful moment in any video game franchise for the rest of my life. Sega hit the nail on the head with this.

there was a 1 month time gap so they must have met up during the period Kiryu was trying to get back into the Dojima family, chances are there was a meeting concerning him rejoining the Tojo which Majima (being a Shimano captain) would definitely be privy to, hence him meeting Kiryu during that time skip.

While i understand it's a year old comment, it's more over due to people like Nishitani who had the "no fucks given" lifestyle that shaped his persona. It's more of just an act he uses around to intimidate and really stand out. Because...[Spoilers ahead.] In Yakuza Kiwami 2, during the Majima Saga, he meets Makoto again, finally closing off the story of her for him. He drops his personality there and has that solemn, deep, formal and emotional attitude again. Atleast he would finally now know she's happy in life. He still refuses to speak to avoid being recognized, or saying his name.

It's heartbreaking to see Majima go through all of this, as well as falling in love, only to do what he does. I get why he did it though; he wanted to protect Makoto and give her a happy life that he couldn't provide due to there being no way out normally in the Yakuza life. He even punched down the guys so that she wouldn't recognize the name. He adopted this mad dog persona because of people like Nishitani and Awano, who sacrificed themselves but lived life without a leash. To be honest, I think he really did love Makoto, or was close to that sorta feeling for her, and they always say letting go can be the truest form of love when it comes to that.

I really, REALLY, want to play a prequel game that takes place before 0. Maybe one where you control a young Shintaro Kazama (hell yeah) or Makoto Tojo, the founder of the clan (there has to be reason as to why Sega is shrouding this guy in mystery). That would be so amazing. Also, I wanna see more of Nihara, since he was a total badass as an old man. Imagine him in his prime, alongside Makoto Tojo.

NGL, coming back to this games ending after playing through the rest of the series hits hard lol. Its tough seeing a young Kiryu and Majima at a point in there lives where they still had guidance, help, and allies at their sides. Compare that to the future games, where loss, depression, and trauma are nearly constants. Seeing Kiryu don his iconic suit makes me sad knowing the only thing that lies ahead for him is years and years of being beaten down physically and especially emotionally. 💔

I find it funny that Kiryu was hesitating to kill and Nishiki stopped him from killing but didn't he already kill a load of guys when he was shooting out of the car with Oda? he must of killed a lot of guys then so he has already crossed that line xD that kind if ruined it for me a bit that he didn't kill Kuze or the other guy just a plot hole that he didn't kill anyone when he did #, they just weren't important people xD

I never managed to play the Yakuza series, so I read up on spoilers instead. Learning how Majima fought tooth and nail to protect Makoto only to leave her and then meet the doctor who'd also fall in love with her was emotional, to say the least. Speaking of the doctor, he's a lucky man thanks to being in the Mad Dog of Shimano's good graces and for being Makoto's future lover during the ending. I still wish that Majima would have made him understand what was done to ensure Makoto's survival and who made that possible. I also wish that Makoto and the doctor would return in a future Yakuza game to repay Majima somehow and that they know the truth-all that COULD be possible judging from the variety of substories that were in other games. Kiryu-chan might be gone-alive but gone-but Majima deserves the spotlight again in future Yakuza games. Long live the Mad Dog of Shimano.
